- Starkville (Miss.) High School wide receiver A.J. Brown sullied an otherwise outstanding day with some drops late in the afternoon but he still left a strong impression. He's such a big, physical receiver that attacks the football and defenders with the kind of aggression that can be a tone-setter for an offense.

- Ole Miss commit Octavious Cooley didn't catch a lot of balls on Tuesday but when they did come his way, he flashed. He's in the 6-3 to 6-4 range as a tight end but he has enormous hands and is much more sudden than you would expect based on body-type. He wants to visit Mississippi State and Alabama before signing day.

Florida recruit Jeawon Taylor says he’s 100 percent committed to the Gators, but he has a school in mind as a plan B option.
That school is UGA. He says the Bulldogs could be a fallback choice for him because of coach Kirby Smart.
“It may be because he was there (for me) before I blew up and became what I am today,” Taylor told SEC Country. “Kirby Smart is just a great coach. That’s the bottom line.”
What’s interesting about his comments is the fact that one of his best friends, 5-star linebacker Lyndell Wilson, is now considering UGA because of Smart.

I'm told that it's going to be "really, really hard" for someone to beat out #Bama for 4* WR Cavin Ridley.

Mississippi folks feel like the top prospects mentioned with Alabama or Auburn, guys like Simmons, receiver A.J. Brown, cornerback Nigel Knott and Alabama defensive tackle commit Raekwon Davis, will sign with the in-state schools, likely Mississippi State. Alabama people feel good about getting Knott from Germantown High near Jackson, Miss.

"I've been talking to them for a while. I set up a visit for January, so I'm going up there for the official visit. It will be the 21st," he said. "He's a good dude, from when I've talked to him in the past. He's a very energetic dude, he just wants me to get up there to see the facility for itself. Make sure it's the right choice.
"He just came down to talk to me face-to-face."
Vaughns nearly took a trip to Tuscaloosa during the seaosn, but it was resheculed for a later date. Next month's trip could be his final official visit.
"I want to learn just how they see me fitting into the school and the football program itself," he said. "I want to see how I'd be used in their offense and everything. I know they didn't have a lot of receivers this year and they need some, so that's going to be the difference between me going and not going.
"Just knowing that I'm feeling comfortable going there and that I can see myself there for the next three or four years. That's really it for me, I need to know I can play away from home and see it for myself."

MISSISSIPPI WR A LONG WAY FROM DECIDING
Four-star WR A.J. Brown of Starkville (Miss.) High remains a long way away from making his decision. Brown (6-2, 220) does have an official visit set up at the end of January with Ole Miss. Most, if not all of his trips, will be next month. Miami, California, Tennessee and Florida also are in the hunt, but everyone seems to be chasing hometown Mississippi State. Brown is both fast and physical, and has soft hands.

TIDE COMMITMENT MAKING VISITS
Even Alabama has to hang on to its commitments. No school is immune to how the process has evolved, meaning committed players visit other schools. That’s the case with one of the nation’s best defensive tackles, Crimson Tide commitment Raekwon Davis (6-6, 315) of Meridian (Miss.) High. Davis said he plans to make his visits and has one scheduled to Mississippi State on the weekend of January 15. Alabama will get a visit, and LSU and Florida State are likely visits. Davis — a national top 100 prospect — could play on either side of the ball at the next level. He’s raw but has terrific size, length and athleticism.

D.C. DE TO VISIT TALLAHASSEE
Four-star DE Terrell Hall (6-5, 250) of Washington (D.C.) St. John’s College High is scheduled to take an official visit to Florida State this weekend. He’s looking at several schools, including Alabama, Florida, Maryland, Penn State and Notre Dame. Hall, a national top-80 prospect, took an official visit to Florida in September.

The 5-star prospect, a senior at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, told Bleacher Report he's expecting coaches from Alabama and Ohio State to spend time with him in the coming days.
Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin will visit Wednesday, as initially reported by Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. The Buckeyes will send at least quarterbacks coach Tim Beck sometime this week, per Patterson.
These developments provide late intrigue for a nationwide recruitment that dates back to 2012.
"I'm committed to Ole Miss and pretty sure that's where I want to go. Then again, you don't know what's going to happen and you can't really burn any bridges," he said. "I don't want any regrets when I look back. I want to know that I did everything possible to put myself in the right position to succeed."
The situation should become much clearer following these coach encounters. Patterson, a U.S. Army All-American Player of the Year finalist, didn't rule out the possibility of reciprocating Saban's visit with a late trip to Tuscaloosa.
"I'm not sure yet. It just depends how that in-home visit goes," he said.

From BOL on Eddie Piniero (I think this poster is one of his family members)

quote:
Hello everyone. As you all know by now, Coach Nick Saban, Mario Cristobal, and Bobby Williams met with Eddy and his family here in Miami. He stayed with us for about two hours and enjoyed eating Cuban food while talking to Eddy about his progression of development during Eddy's next four years at Alabama.
He was very honest with Eddy about his expectations for him and was not afraid to tell Eddy what he needed to hear as opposed to maybe what he thought Eddy, or any recruit for that matter, maybe wanted to hear. Eddy appreciated Coach Saban's honesty and respected his direct approach in his communication to Eddy.
He layed out a plan for Eddy and explained that there will be every resource available for Eddy to be successful as a student as well as a player. He identified all of the special programs that they have for their players outside of the standard ones that every football program has for their athletes.
He said they have a point system that his players have to adhere to on a weekly basis in order for them to play on Saturdays. And yes, there was information that was shared that probably was meant to stay in house.
After some photos were taken, Coach Saban left with Bobby Williams to the airport to fly to West Palm Beach leaving Cristobal behind to finish up talking with Eddy and his family. Over some Cuban coffee, Mario Cristobal brought the Cuban connection to a whole new level speaking to us in English as well as Spanish. You can understand really quickly why he is Saban's ace recruiter!
One hour later Cristobal finally left and Eddy, his father, and I went out to eat and discuss the night's events.
Eddy will be taking his last Official Visit as promised to Alabama this weekend. It will be kind of a ghost town there since many students will have left for the holidays; but Eddy has already seen the madness of Tuscaloosa when he was up for there for the LSU game.
Overall, a great experience!!!
