During check-in on Monday in Hattiesburg, Alabama commit Deonte Brown doesn't really turn heads. He's not overly tall or long at around 6-foot-3 and he's got some bad weight that he needs to move around. When the pads come on though, Brown begins to turn heads for all the right reasons.
The Decatur (Ala.) Austin High School product was fantastic on Tuesday, particularly as a run-blocker in team periods. He's explosive off the snap, mobile in agile in space and he just engulfs linebackers on the second level. Chance Warmack had a similar high school profile in terms of size, body-type and skillset and Brown has the look of a guy that can develop in the weight room into that same kind of dominating force.

He's still a work in progress at that size but when he's on, there's just no blocking him. Particularly in the first session of the day, Davis was on and he was blowing up the offensive line in front of him regularly. An Alabama commit, Davis still wants to take official visits, particularly to Mississippi State.

4. Quinnen Williams, DE, Birmingham (Ala.) Wenonah – Williams is the type of prospect that carries 265 pounds like it's 220. He's got a frame to really pack on pounds easily and keep his athleticism, of which he has a lot. The Alabama commit is a rare combination of a guy that can get skinny and play big on the defensive line. He was very active slicing through the line of scrimmage and getting into the backfield but he also showed the power to man-up at the point of attack. Williams looks like an extremely high upside prospect for the Crimson Tide.

High School – There are a couple of really talented linebackers to chose from on the Alabama roster but Davis maybe showed the most consistency on the first day of action. He's huge but he moved around well and was effective in run support. Davis seems to have lost some of this stiffness we saw out of him late in the summer. Currently Davis has Georgia on top with Alabama No. 2 but the Crystal Ball points to the Tide.

- The Mississippi defensive line group is one of the best we've seen in this game and that's saying something. Along with Davis and Jones, Jeffery Simmons was outstanding on Tuesday and was probably the best among the group in pass-rush 1on1s. Kobe Jones was also outstanding along the front. Simmons, Davis, Jones and Jones is a dominating front four and made it difficult for Mississippi's offense to execute.

One of the biggest names in attendance, Auburn commit Marlon Davidson had a nice day as well. For Davidson it was clear that he came motivated to put on a show. In the run game, few defensive linemen were as physical at the point of attack on Tuesday.

- USC commit Velus Jones Jr. is one of the best route-runners at the event. Though he's not the most consistent pass-catcher, he seems like an intelligent player that picks things up quickly. He was the guy other receivers were looking to for help on assignments.
