His success for them bodes well for us. If he wins 2 more before Saban retires, which is doable, he may feel like has done enough to be immortalized there.
He then can win just one here and have a statue 2 spots down from the coach he played for, and be immortalized here.

LINK ]Alabama in good shape to land grad transfer tight end (AL.com)

Alabama may be close to adding a veteran player to its tight end room. The Crimson Tide hosted North Carolina graduate transfer LINK ]Carl Tucker on a visit this past weekend and seems to be the current favorite to land the 2018 Pro Football Focus All-ACC selection.
“The visit was awesome,” said Tucker’s father, Carl Tucker Sr. “Obviously the stature of Alabama football is so huge that we really didn’t know what to expect, but we knew it would be something that we hadn’t seen before. … But it was really good. They really wanted to figure out what questions and concerns we had for Alabama. And they did a really good job of explaining why they wanted Carl, what they saw in Carl and where they felt he would be able to help Bama.”
Alabama has been interested in adding a grad transfer tight end and Tucker is one of the top options available. The 6-foot-2, 250-pound North Carolina native started 20 career games at North Carolina, including four this year. While the Tar Heels’ top three tight ends combined for just 17 total catches this year in the team’s new Air Raid offense, Tucker had 16 catches for 265 yards and two touchdowns in 2018.
Tucker entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal in late December. While schools such as Florida State, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Washington and Missouri have all been in contact, Florida State and Alabama are the only two schools Tucker has visited thus far. It’s unclear at this point if he’ll take any other visits.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Tennessee or Missouri wants him to visit, but I just don’t know at this point if Carl is going to take anything,” Tucker’s dad said. “I know this week he’s not. Possibly the following week. But then again, I don’t know. He had a really good visit at Alabama. Let’s just say that. He could see himself playing at Alabama. Alabama really filled all of the blanks where Carl was and with his concerns.”
During the visit, Tucker and his family reconnected with an Alabama staffer they’ve known for a while. Tide analyst Butch Jones recruited Tucker back when he was the head coach at Tennessee. And the family talked to Jones during the visit to Tuscaloosa about — five years later — possibly now getting a chance to be part of the same program.
“There’s definitely a relationship there and when we got there, the first person I wanted to see was Coach Jones,” Carl Tucker Sr. said. “It was really good to see him. We had several conversations during the weekend about how this could be full circle. I think Carl would have probably gone to Tennessee if he hadn’t gone to Carolina. So we felt that it was full circle that Coach Jones was there and he had something to do with bringing Carl into the conversation of going to Alabama.”

I don’t believe we are going to take 27 like we originally thought. I’m fine with it

I think: Jayson Jones flips, probably to Oregon. Van Pran sticks with UGA. Collins' mom makes him go to Texas. Damieon George announces Bama on NSD (he signed "privately" in Dec). Jackson & Rakestraw sign with Bama on NSD. Tucker commits soon, transfers to Bama and enrolls in May-June. Bama saves signing limit spots for Burroughs & Baker to sign and enroll after they qualify.

The race for the number one class has gotten tighter. I don't know if they reflect the new 247 rankings or not, but Clemson is at 310.80, we are at 310.47 and Georgia is at 309.80.
ETA: If we swap McKinnley Jackson for Jayson Jones our score jumps to 312.41.

Nick Harris Texas 2020 Top 50 Player Rankings: 1-25
quote:
9. RB Jase McClellan (Aledo)
A surprise flip to Alabama from Oklahoma on signing day and an MVP performance in the 5A Division II state championship wrapped up a special career for Aledo's workhorse of a running back in Jase McClellan. Despite being harbored by injury in his senior season, the four-year starter finished his career with 6,685 yards and 124 touchdowns to go along with 3 rings. This is a guy that can carry the load for Oklahoma at any point in the game and is one of the more reliable backs in the class after posting 7.7 yards per carry in his time with the Bearcats.

6. DE Alfred Collins (Bastrop Cedar Creek)
With under ten days to go before National Signing Day, Alfred Collins stands as the state's highest-ranked unsigned recruit for the 2020 class. Collins announced Sunday that he will be making his decision between Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama at a ceremony at Cedar Creek High School on National Signing Day. Collins has been a big time force in his time at Cedar Creek as he stands at 6-5 and 284 pounds and has accounted for a whopping 253 tackles (74 for loss) and 10 forced fumbles in his three years with the Eagles. My crystal ball pick will stay with the Longhorns.

4. LB Drew Sanders (Denton Ryan)
A five-star in every meaning of the definition, Drew Sanders has made a hobby out of devouring opposing offenses at Denton Ryan for three years. In 2019, his Ryan Raiders fell just short of the 5A Division I state championship, but what they were able to do in the 15 games prior on the defensive side of the ball is one of the more special moments of the 2019 season. On a defense stacked with power five recruits, Sanders led the way with his tenacious edge rush ability and 11 sacks to show for it. Looking forward, Alabama has a monster on their hands that can change the spirit of a team and game on just one play.

2. WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Rockwall)
Another player expected to land his fifth star on Tuesday, Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been THAT guy for Rockwall for four years. His 5,423 career yards and 64 career touchdowns rank among the best that the state has ever seen, and his ability to create separation in the blink-of-an-eye is a generational trait that few in the high school ranks have ever had. A slant route from Jaxon Smith-Njigba is about as deadly as it gets in 6A Division I football, but his ability to high-point the football and make acrobatic catches over defenders truly separated himself into the top three conversation for me. Looking forward, the composite five-star will have to compete in a stacked wide receiver room in Columbus that includes Julian Fleming, Gee Scott Jr, and former five-star Garrett Wilson.
Tell that to Ennis Rakestraw, Jr.

Three-Point Stance: Rankings, top returning QBs

1. RANDOM RANKINGS THOUGHTS AS NSD NEARS
quote:
... Alabama is oddly being overlooked on the defensive side of the ball for what the Crimson Tide have landed in 2020. There are some potential freaks, and I mean freaks, on that side of the ball for Nick Saban. We all know how much I love defensive tackle Timothy Smith, but linebacker Drew Sanders was also very close to five-star status as well. Pair Sanders with Chris Braswell, Demouy Kennedy and William Anderson as the hybrid guy and you have a wrecking crew up front for ‘Bama.

2. PROSPECTS THAT COULD MAKE US LOOK BAD
quote:
RB Jase McClellan – I like McClellan a lot and it didn’t matter whether he went to Oklahoma or Alabama, he was destined to be an elite player in my book. He has OK size but what makes him special is his ability to work off contact in traffic and also make people miss in space. He should have a very good career at Alabama, even if he has to wait his turn.
