Good luck to him. Sucks to see instate talent leave, but at least he's not going to AU.

Jamal Johnson to Memphis.

Man I wish someone would go ahead and make it official to Avery. I guess we'll know in less that 2 months.

If I had to guess, I'd say no, but I wouldn't be surprised either way. All I know is that our staff really wants him. I wonder if he's not slow playing us.

So many commits coming off the board. Getting nervous, y'all.

This. Would have created a terrible recruiting pitch against us. Plus, if he goes off, it'd really suck to play against him knowing we could have had him.

Still not a very good image to me. Dude was basically a free recruit. I know Avery is trying to change the culture by aiming higher. During his debut press conference though, he mentioned "building a wall" around the state. Miss out on Johnson, Jones, Petty and Reese then things get kinda ugly. If Sexton or Petty are going to come, I hope they give other recruits enough time to know about it.

Both Alabama and AU passed on Johnson, if he isn't good enough for the SEC, why take him just because he is in state?

Saw a rivals post about Troy Brown. Talked about Avery and NBA mentality. Also, talked about being comfortable playing with Sexton and they both will visit Kansas at the same time (Sept. 30-Oct 1)

Like I said before, Troy Brown could become a problem for us.

So, it looks like we are down to 7 targets that we are really pursuing for 2017.

Collin Sexton (PG/SG) Georgia
Troy Brown (PG/SG) Nevada
John Petty (SG/SF) Bama
Herb Jones (SG/SF) Bama
Alex Reese (PF) Bama
Rayshaun Hammonds (PF) Georgia
Galin Smith (PF/C) Miss

4 open scholarships for sure (Corban Collins, Bola Olaniyan, Shannon Hale, Jimmie Taylor)

I wouldn't say I'm very worried, but if you're not a little worried about a top 10 recruit going elsewhere when he's not committed, that's called over-confidence. John Petty was 100% UK not that long ago, and I think we have a 50/50 shot at him right now.

Take Galin, Reese, Jones, and Petty and keep it moving. Gives us two that can make a difference right now and two development players.

Problem with that is Herb Jones is leaning to Florida currently, correct?

It's 60-40 Bama right now, but Florida is gaining.

I feel most confident about Sexton and it's not even that close.

I'm going to play devils advocate. We NEED Sexton to commit yesterday. It makes everything else much easier. So why not pull the trigger? Why can't Avery go to him and tell him we need him now; we need him and his name working for us with other guys. He can still take all his visits and get all the attention he want. We get it. Just help us get this rebuilding job going and it starts with him!

That's why I'm nervous. We have hitched our wagon to this guy and he won't commit. He is saying all the right things and it looks good but bottom line is he won't say "yes." Why?

Maybe all 4 of them already silently committed to Avery, and they all know that, so their is no need to get the ball rolling. They all know they are coming and want to make a big splash :)
