In 2001 George W Bush proposed a partial privatization plan for Social Security so you could put 10% of your SS contribution into the markets.
People rejected this.
We can now see that if it had passed, the 10% that went into the markets would have outperformed the 90% the government managed, the program would be solvent, and the average SS recipient would be receiving 2X what they currently receive.
The worst bet you’ll ever make is betting on government.

The Alien Terrorist Removal Court (ATRC) was created by Congress in 1996 via the Antiterrorism Act. It's a specialized court of 5 Article III judges (picked by the Chief Justice) to review sealed applications for removing alien terrorists while protecting classified evidence—modeled on the FISA Court.
Unused for 30 years until the first application was filed July 15, 2026. Hearing held July 16; more info due soon.
It offers meaningful protection vs. activist judges: sealed process + specialized judges reduce leaks, forum-shopping, and broad injunctions that plague regular immigration or Alien Enemies Act cases. Appeals still go to D.C. Circuit, but it streamlines secure, rapid action on national security threats.

ZOMBIE COURT: The Trump administration just filed the first-ever case with the Alien Terrorist Removal Court — a secretive body created by Congress in 1996 that has never heard a single case in nearly 30 years.
The Justice Department is seeking to deport an unnamed illegal immigrant suspected of terrorism using classified evidence through the long-dormant court, which allows the government to present sealed intelligence that never gets disclosed to the respondent. The move comes after Chief Judge James Boasberg himself pointed to the ATRC as an alternative during the administration's Alien Enemies Act fight earlier this year.
The court's chief judge has already asked DOJ for additional documentation, giving officials until Wednesday to strengthen their case. If successful, the administration could unlock a powerful new deportation tool that bypasses the federal judges who have repeatedly blocked its immigration agenda.

I have no frame of reference, I can't compare it to the sentiments of US soldiers in previous conflicts. But I suspect these are new sentiments, or at least a new willingness to express them this openly and directly.
But as one serviceman told me: "What people in the media don't understand when they compare past conflicts to this one, is this operation has no morale behind it. That makes a world of difference to service members deployed to undesirable locations indefinitely."
Read that last part again: No morale. Deployed to undesirable locations INDEFINITELY.
My own conclusion: When a war has no morale behind it, winning means that you simply end it. There is no other "winning" in such an unjust war.
