The Oakland Athletics called up a rare breed of relief pitcher on Friday named Pat Venditte. Venditte is a switch pitcher, throwing both right and left-handed pitches. He put in two full innings in relief during the A's 4-2 loss to the Red Sox, giving up just one hit and no runs.
He is the first switch-pitcher to appear in a game since Greg Harris on Sept. 28, 1995.
