There's going down not swinging and then there's this. During Wednesday night's Miami Marlins vs. New York Yankees game, Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon simply checked out of this pitch before it was even thrown...

Did he forget the count?

"According to Gordon, he was hoping the pitch, like the one before it, wouldn't be near the strike zone. "I wanted to see if he could throw the pitch for a strike, and he did," Gordon told MLB.com's Joe Frisaro. "I didn't think he would, and he did. That's part of it.""

Probably the best approach to a pitch when you have 2 strikes against you.
