Per LSU: NICEVILLE, Florida – The LSU men’s basketball team defeated DePaul, 96-63, in the Emerald Coast Classic championship on Saturday night at Raider Arena.

With the victory, LSU improves its overall record to 7-0 while DePaul falls to 7-3 on the season.

LSU came out strong in the first half and never let up. The Tigers shot 17-of-25 (68%) from the floor, while DePaul went 9-of-25 (36%). LSU drowned four three-pointers to the Cougars one. The Tigers closed the half carrying a 28-point advantage, 50-22.

In the second half, the Tigers scored 18-of-26 (69.2%) on the floor and 9-of-11 from the free throw line. Additionally, they tallied 13 assists, 16 rebounds and six steals.

LSU’s 96 points is the most in program history against a Big East Team.

Dedan Thomas Jr. earned Emerald Coast Classic MVP, scoring 12 points on 5-of-7 from the field and five assists against DePaul.

Pablo Tamba had 14 points and 7 rebounds to lead LSU. Along with Pablo and Dedan, five Tigers finished in double figures including Michael Nwoko, Max Mackinnon and Jalen Reece with 13 points. Robert Miller scored 12 points while Rashad King scored 11.

Krux McClure was the leading scorer for the Blue Demons, finishing with 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting and three treys.

The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 3 to face Boston College. The game will tip off at 6:15 p.m. CT inside the Conte Forum.
