LSU Advances To Emerald Coast Classic Championship With 71-62 Win Over Drake

Per LSU: NICEVILLE, FL. – The LSU Men’s Basketball team went on the road for the first time this season for the Emerald Coast Classic as they defeat Drake 71-62 inside Raider Arena on Friday night.
The Tigers advance to 6-0 overall while Drake falls to 4-3 on the season.
In the first half, LSU and Drake battled back and forth, but it was LSU’s post presence that allowed for the Tigers to establish and extend their lead. The Tigers had 24 points in the paint to Drake’s eight. LSU shot 52% from the field to Drake’s 33%. The Tigers went on a 10-0 run near the end of the first half to head into the locker with a 14-point lead, 38-24.
In the second half, The Tigers’ continued to attack the paint and get to the free throw line. Despite a late push from Drake, LSU managed to put the game away at the free throw line.
Dedan Thomas Jr. was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 18 points. Michael Nwoko had a good night as well with 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, November 29th as they take on DePaul in the championship round of the Emerald Coast Classic. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. CT inside Raider Arena.
