I'm saying there's no positive repercussion from that sort of discipline. Make him run and chew him out but to demoralize him in front of his teammates and fans like that? He would've gotten the message without that crap.
We saw what happened to Godwin last year when Kirby rode his arse; it basically killed all the momentum he had from his Freshman season.

He was setting an expample for the entire team.

you really think that was due to Kirby yelling at him.....

What momentum? I haven't seen any momentum from Godwin. Godwin has not even come close to living up to his potential. Hopefully he can remedy that this year, cause he only has one more chance left.

It's a stupid, old school mentality that has no direct correlation to building character or unifying a team for the season. It was the excessive and unnecessary treatment of a player who should have been penalized by taking his play time away.
I guarantee you it hurt team morale, which in turn hurts performance.

Not a fan of Kirby chewing the kid out like that. The guys need to have a little fun and we definitely need Wims to play big this year. When a coach does that its just a huge bummer for the team
Wtf. It's how you instill discipline, which is essential in a close game.

Taking your best WR's playing time away and losing would be more damaging to team morale than making him sit in the corner for a practive.

Saban has just ruined the Bama program win his no nonsense attitude. No doubt those players lack confidence.

Let me clarify, I definitely think Kirby should have reprimanded Wims but to make him stare at the wall? That's some weird/demoralizing Guantanamo Bay shite.
Also, making him run stadiums for 90 minutes? That seems to be excessive.
That's a huge confidence killer for a player we definitely need to be playing with full confidence.
Kirby should have just chewed him out and sat his arse for the rest of the game. The team would have gotten the point, Wims would have understood and he wouldn't have publicly humiliated a guy he needs this year.
We don't need snowflakes. If he can't take punishment we need to know now. Football is man's game not a therapy session. Bust his arse and find out what he's made of.

You don't have to bust someone's arse for the sake of busting it... good leaders are firm, but fair. In this case, I feel it is safe to assume that this subject matter has already been discussed as not acceptable. It works out well that it happened in a scrimmage, where everyone could get the full affect without losing a game over it. I don't think it was unfair or over the top. I think a point was made and I hope it sticks.

Seems like an over the top reaction by the Kang. One would think it would be more important to get Wims on the field to get better as a WR rather than just staring into concrete. What a waste of the remaining scrimmage for Wims if that is true. Maybe Kirby realizes Wims ain't going to start anyway, so make an example of him. If anything make Wims do that shite after the scrimmage, but not during it when he needs more game experience to work on his craft.

Good for CKS. Kids need to learn some discipline. It's been severely lacking for years.

If Fromm had thrown it, I bet he'd probably have beat Kirby there to start the arse chewing.

Does this mean that we really weren't building better men?

Nick Saban disagrees with you.

Disagrees about what? The leg room in a 450SL?
