Well if he has roots in NC then I'd assume KJ Henry might like the hire

Isn't Zamir White in NC, too?

Yep. Top comment from FB
quote:

This guy is considered an up and coming star in the coaching ranks. Arrived at UNC in 2015 and helped that defense improve by giving up 14.5 pts less a game. The team had 23 sacks total all season, 19 of which came from the D-line. I know all UGA fans wanted some splashy hire, but just maybe Kirby Smart knows what he's doing better than those criticizing this hire

I don't get this hire at all. This is not a recruiting home run we were conjecturing. The guy looks to know his X's and O's, but overall, I'm disappointed.

Hope you know something we don't Kirby

He has done pretry well hiring recruiters so far. That isn't a guarantee. But McGee and Schuman have worked out.

Honestly, I think we wanted someone to expand our footprint in N Carolina. Lily used to clean up in that area and was very well connected. NC might not have a deep talent pool, but the top level talent there is very good.

Looks like we hired the Employee-of-the-Month from a small bank.

We need to get someone that can recruit Texas and Oklahoma.

I would rather try to strengthen NC and VA than worry about Texas and OK.

Completely agree. Not as many schools to fight off. And we have had great success in the Carolinas

How do you know this isn't a recruiting homerun? I bet you said the same thing about Dell McGee.

Why would anyone say that about McGee?

That was probably the only reason he was hired.

Please find me one highly rated DLine prospect he pulled while he was at UNC or his short stint at Ole Miss.

I'll hang up and listen.

Maybe Texas, but that's not a huge priority for us.

Not sure why we'd concern ourselves with hiring a coach to recruit Oklahoma.

He coached a 3 star up to being good enough to be on the draft boards as a JR.

Thats great, but we are talking recruiting. I thinkw e can all agree Rocker's on the field coaching has never been a problem...its his recruiting that was questionable.

This guy has an even less stellar track record, but he is young and kirby has faith, so I guess we shall see.
