DawgPost Saying he may have gotten into an argument with Aubrey Solomon's mom?
Weird.
He is a good coach, IMO. Gotta follow him up with another one.

Somebody get me up to speed. Who is Rumph and why is he better than Rocker?
Posted on 2/7/17 at 2:43 pm to GhostofCrowell
That post says Tosh Lupoi is one to watch. Hmmm... I think I'd still rather have Rumph.

Chris Rumph is UF's D-Line coach. He's a bad dude. Florida's DL has been formidable.

He's a good coach but a lazy recruiter IMO. Sucks for Wyatt since Rocker played a big part in him sticking without UGA. Based on the article I read, seems like it was mutual. Just reading between the lines, but we'll be just fine.

Florida's D-line has completely kicked our arse since he's been there. Rumph would be a terrific hire.
So, DawgPost noted that Rocker "was said" to have gotten into an argument with Solomon's mother... by who?

I remember hearing Rumphs name back in the day, wasn't he at MSU?
Anyway, why would he be tempted to move laterally from UF?

Would love to have Rumph.

Considering how awful our goal line defense was last season, this doesn't hurt that badly, imo.

I'll tentatively be optimistic here. Rumph or Lupoi would both be equal or better at X/O coaching and dramatic steps up in recruiting. I liked Rocker, but he was underwhelming as a recruiter...
ETA: I can remember at the time of the Richt/Kirby transition, we were really hoping we hung on to him because we thought he was going to give us a good shot with D. Brown... and then this year Aubrey Solomon... Regardless of the why, he has swung and missed on what should have been "easier" sells at the very least. Most recruits seem to indicate they like him, but often just not enough to commit to UGA. And for Trent Thompson, he was only the secondary recruiter with Bobo as primary.

If say Travis Jones might be an option too. He and Kirby are familiar

Rocker definitely struck me as someone who saw the recruiting angle as a necessary evil, and not one that he lived and breathed. Doesn't Lupoi have some bad juju with the NCAA?

I agree, its a lateral move at best. Only way I could see him leaving is friction with his current staff.
I'd say it will be a new face or someone from a program below the statute of UGA.

Or he sees Butterteeth at UF getting fired after this year.

Now it's out there we could lose 2 more coaches. Wow...I think DJ Looney is one(not sure why). Guy was apparently a huge part of this massive OL haul we got. I think he's said to be going to Miss State.

Georgia graduate assistant D.J. Looney is headed back to his alma mater, Mississippi State, according to a tweet from FoxSports National College Football Writer Bruce Feldman. Feldman is reporting that Looney will be "an assistant" who'll work with tackles and tight ends.
He had spent one year under Bulldogs offensive line coach Sam Pittman at UGA where he assisted with recruiting and coaching.

Yeah just saw that..hard to keep a guy from his alma mater in the coaching world.
Posted on 2/7/17 at 3:16 pm to DawgCountry
Regarding Looney, you can't really be too upset about a GA leaving for a position coach job, which is what that sounds like

Im not sure how I feel about all these coaching changes after 1 year.
I mean I get coaches come and go, but damn, seems like there is a lot of attrition for such a young coaching staff.
We need continuity.
