Michigan would have to release him from his Letter of Intent and I believe he would have to sit out a year and not be counted as a redshirt. So basically he would only have 3 years to play.

He coached D line at Pitt, Wisconsin, and I think Arkansas before becoming HC at FAU.
Kiffin replaces him at FAU.

Going through his stats, his teams have racked up a lot of sacks. Their leading sacker had 9.5 last year. 13 the year before.

I'd think he'd have a few connections in So. FL for recruiting.

Just curious, but how do you know he's not a good game day coach?
A good game day coach will make adjustments during the game to improve pass rush or stopping the run. I haven't seen Rocker do that. Rocker knows technique and can teach talented players the proper way to do their job. He teaches these things during practice sessions and does it well.
This is merely my opinion, just as everyone here has an opinion. Take it for what you will.

There would appear to be three facets that you need to be a good coach:
Recruiting
Practice/Technique
Gameday Scheme/Adjustements
If Rocker was only superior at one - Teaching fundamentals & technique Sun-Fri, but not adapting properly on Sat, then practically anyone would be an upgrade, yes? The kids aren't completely directionless during the games. They have some instincts about them. I get it that you play like you practice, but there's got to be some adjustments during the actual game, and that has to come from the coaches. If Rocker was only hitting 1/3, then I have to believe we can do better. Especially with someone like Lupoi or Rumph.

According to the Bama board Rocker was terminated for cussing out Solomon's mom. Not sure I buy that.
Cussing might be a strong insinuation.
But Derrick Browns mom still works at WalMart. She never gave Rocker up by name, but she said that a Georgia coach showed his true colors. Basically... Rocker doesn't handle uncommitted kids just before signing day very well. He virtually ruins any chance at good vibes towards the university with kids that are stringing it out to signing day.

If true, then we can definitely do better. There's no reason to believe that we can't have the absolute best recruiters at each position.

Just hired Tray Scott who was at UNC the last couple seasons. I really don't get that move.

To replace Rocker? Is this even a break-even hire for us?

I would like to know which territory he will be recruiting as well as his rankings.
Kirby seems to put a lot of value in recruiting abilities
