We have guys coming in June.

DB depth and OL depth should always be a concern (no other positions can fit 5-6 players on the field at one time). But I believe in the depth that e grabbed with the 17 class.

My opinion of Eason as of today is that he is Grayson Lambert with a much stronger arm. He has terrible pocket presence and he holds on to the ball to long. Exactly like Lambert. Only difference is that he is capable of throwing it a lot farther and with more velocity. But there again, his touch is lacking also. He doesn't have the "it" factor and certainly doesn't appear to be a field General. God I miss Murray. That dude was a freaking warrior.

Sure, but that's not going to help much this year, that's my fear.

Well... freshmen can help with depth.

I don't expect that we are relying on them to start at CB. As a matter of fact... the defense has enough talent returning to get us through this season.

I often have felt like we were light on our OL/DB hauls. But the defense has bodies this year. Losing Mauger and Smith won't be a devastation for us. We've got talent and depth on the back end to where we should be better than we were last season.

Spin it however, but the fact remains, our 2nd team DBs got picked apart by a high school quarterback so I'm a little concerned about our depth.

1st team looked good. Adequate.

Well. The 1st team included more than just 2 CBs.

The second team had an All Conference Senior transfer (I don't know what conference Bethany College is) lining up against Holloman. Not much different from the white CBs we had trying to stop Marlon Brown back in 2010 with Mettenberger.

If we are setting a 1st and 2nd string, I don't think Tim Hill is going to see it at CB. The first two TDs were on him (one with Hollomon and one with him holding the edge against the run).

Agree to disagree.

From played 'serous high school ball.....Eason wouldn't have started in most Metro Atlanta area schools......he may yet come around but he showed serious issues last season and a bunch of them stem from having not played in a states where division 1 players are recruited in middle school......

Now you are just going overboard to criticize the guy. He would have started for every metro school save 2 or 3. He would have been very similar to Bailey Hockman had he played 4 years in metro.

Yeah I admit I was wrong....he odiously could start at most....but my point was he wouldn't have started at all of them....and that's just metro Atlanta....he wouldn't have been the best QB in Georgia but was in Washington State....that was the point I was making....he'd have benn a much less big deal in the SE than he was in the NW......

That's not exactly true. Ramsey was a big deal in GA, and Eason beat him out by the start of fall camp.

Rankings are a projection. He would have still likely been a 5* based on his physical tools.

Good point. Ramsey was a big deal coming out of high school but he never really seemed to put it together. Brice was the 6th rated pro QB in the country.

I think this is the year that we'll see if Eason is the second coming of Matt Stafford or is he another highly rated HS kid that just can't pull it all together. If the latter do we start him for 3 more years or take a chance on another youngster.

I know this is all theoretical. It's just interesting that some people are so all-in with Eason.

He is a very talented QB and started his true freshman year. Fans have high hopes and want to be successful NOW, so that's why they are all-in behind him. We don't want to think about another true frost QB coming in.

Eason won't be benched for Fromm unless he is seriously injured. He improved throughout the year, more time to play catch with his WRs, more film time and a year to finally mature as a college student. I think he will be just fine this year.

I think we are going to see a different Eason this year. For better or worse. I spied it a bit at the end of last season.

He was getting pissed at his protection in the GT game. He is going to break the pocket on his own more often and try to create. It might be an utter failure. It might get him hurt. But I don't see him standing in there and getting blindsided as often as he did last year.

Eason is the quarterback and he's not being pushed.
He had a very good spring.

Fromm was making throws against some guy named "Tim Hill" playing cornerback. No disrespect to the kid, but I follow this team closely and I've never heard of him.

Eason was throwing against what is potentially a top 10 defense.

With that being said, I do think Fromm reads the defense quicker, has better accuracy and a better pocket presence.

Fromm did well, but there were zero scholarship level CBs on the second string defense, which made Fromm and Holloman look better than they might have otherwise.
