I hope Kirby Smart doesn't turn out to be Ray Goff 2.0. There was absolutely no reason to assume he was better than a perennial 10 win coach who we fired because he didnt do something we've only done twice in the entire history of the program. We don't even know if Smart's a good defensive coach, since he's built his entire reputation running Nick Saban's system with 5 star athletes recruited to Alabama.
I guess we can always keep Smart for 5 or 6 years and then hire Mike Bobo to be Jim Donnan 2.0. That should make all the Mark Richt haters ecstatic and we can all reminisce about what a lousy coach Richt was. Reverend Richt, Field goal Jesus. Did I miss any?

Maybe some of our fans should have stepped away from the ledge last year, before they clamored for the firing of probably the first coach in history to be canned for averaging 10 wins a season, and one of the best in UGA history. What we saw today was how bad coaching truly looks.

The ledge. Step away from it. I remember sitting in Sanford watching David Green, David Pollack, etc., etc., need a Billy Bennet FG late in the fourth to beat a POS UAB team.
And CMR had been coaching for awhile. Yeah, maybe CKS won't work out, but you can't make that call after two weeks. Geezus frick you people.

At least UAB was Division I-A (or FBS as they call it now) at that time. Nicholls Fricking State is FCS, where they've won 9 games in the last 5 years. In other words, UGA traded blows with one of the very worst programs in the FCS and they held their own. Thank goodness their quarterback was a freshman in his first start on the road, or we'd have our worst loss in modern history in Kirby Smart's 2nd game.

Sure, it's possible that their true freshman quarterback has turned the program around after many years of ineptitude in a lower division. Maybe Kirby has coached us up to the level of a mid tier FCS program?
