Dammit! I love this country so much that I hate it sometimes. This is all very reactionary. Some twisted frick who anyone could see from a quick glance probably should have been ended before he could do what he did identified with the Confederate flag, and now its the worst thing in the world. A battle standard from a war that wasn't even fought primarily over the issue of slavery and race has somehow become forever associated with slavery and racism because that's what the folks who won the war said. One more reason why it is hard to practice tolerance toward all men when all men clearly do not tolerate all others. One cannot identify as Southern with any pride without also being labeled in some negative way. All the carpetbaggers who have encroached on our land certainly seem to love living here...if they could just get rid of all of us damned Southerners and all of our symbols of heritage and pride.
