One bc he has almost zero experience in recruiting and his offenses weren't exactly all world in the nfl.

I like the hire. Seems to go along with what's been successful here lately. And just because his offenses haven't been explosive his past few seasons in the NFL is not indicative of what he could accomplish at the college level. The speed of the game is insanely different. Solid hire, imo.

Wonder what we end up doing at OL coach now?

This is true...but Mark Sanchez looked pretty good at Philly this year.

Not a bad 2nd choice behind Bloomgren. Just didn't want to end up with Roper. Hard to really judge Schottenheimer based on his stint with the Rams and Jets. Both of those teams were ridiculously void of offensive talent on the OLine and skill positions.

wait a minute... the last active guy we hired from the NFL was, uh... the one whose name I do not speak.

It's not that his offenses weren't exlosive, they were just plain bad.

Did you watch any of the games or just check the box score afterwards? Sanchize put up decent stats but he was horrendous outside of one game for the Eagles and is why they didn't make the playoffs. Shite, you could plug me in to a Chip Kelly offense and I'd churn out 200 yards, 1 TD, and a couple of picks.

Decent hire but im a little hesitant after our last NFL coordinator that we hired. #3rdandGrantham

I don't think Grantham was ever a coordinator, just a DL Coach.

Sanchez has been pretty bad this year, and he also plays in an offense more conducive to the pass. I will say, Austin Davis didn't look terrible this year and Shaun Hill played much better than I thought he was capable of. It's just hard when you have a crappy QB to have a good offense.

I'm on the fence with this one. This guy obviously knows offense coming from the NFL...but it doesn't help the recruiting gap

Those Rams QBs were not superstars to begin with and the NFL is a beast compared to college football. I like this hire and I love the fact we are sticking to our pro style offense. He made Tre Mason look pretty good

For like a whole 2 games. Then his turnover ratio became one of the worsts in the league.

I like the hire. He'll be running Richts offense and he has a lot of weapons to work with. He hasn't had great offenses in the NFL, but he's worked exclusively with Mark Sanchez, Sam Bradford, and a bunch of backups QB's. In other words, he's worked with garbage personnel. Also, he has the NFL pedigree to sell to recruits.

Truth is, no matter who Richt hired he'd get scrutinized. If he had gone with the Stanford OC, people would've pointed to their 68th ranked offense last year. If it was Roper, the SEC would've said he's nothing without Cutcliffe and look at the UF offense last year. List goes on. This is a bold move that more than likely ensures the offensive coaching staff returns. Continuity is huge in CFB.

I need to do some research on Brian before I bash him.

Sounds to me like he has struggled recently in the NFL.

Just bc the game is slower in college doesn't mean that will translate into more success for coaches transitioning from the nfl to college.

When hires like this are made every fan of every team tries to rationalize and say shite like, "Well he didn't have a lot of talent to work with, but he will at (insert team here). "
