Not really...about 5 mins away up 75N...traffic will be much worse going South (above 75) and 285 E (N.Fulton and Gwinntt fans) Plus there are alternative routes. It's much better than going the connector southbound to Turner. Believe me,I know Atlanta traffic.

Does anyone remember how the Ted was financed? Was it all financed by timewarner or did the taxpayers foot the bill?

Truthfully, I don't give a rats arse either way. I more than likely wont attend anymore than my token three games a year.
Baseball is just not what it once was and I don't know why that is but, that it is.

Remember it was originally the "96 Olympic stadium that seated about 90,000...
IIRC all or almost of the original cost was paid by the AOOC & taxpayers & the Braves/Warner Bro.s/ City of Atl paid for the demo & conversion to Turner Field...

After the 1996 Olympics were complete the stadium was leased by the Atlanta Braves. Private entities, including NBC and other Olympic sponsors, agreed to pay a large sum of the cost to build Centennial Olympic Stadium (approximately $170 million of the $209 million bill). The Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG) sought to build the stadium in a way that it could be converted to a new baseball stadium, and ACOG paid for the conversion

I love the fact that 18.66% was what the tax payers actually had to pony up for the Ted, yet this fact is conveniently ignored. I also don't understand the whole notion that we are screwing over the people who live in that area. If the real estate is worth a shite a developer will scoop up that land and make use of it, it may not be as sexy as a ballpark but I can guarantee it would still be better than the surrounding areas.

shite we are keeping Fredi forever, we just cut his commute in half!

The fact that people are more pissed about the stadium moving than they are about pissing away tax dollars on a baseball stadium is out-fricking-rageous to me.

The inferiority complex they have with their city is funny. I didn't know there was a Nola-Atlanta "rivalry" until I came to these boards. I'm talking about the actual cities, not just the Falcons-Saints

There is no rivalry. People from Louisiana are just bat shite crazy.

This is actually the exact reason I'm pissed, and I don't even live in Cobb. If I did, I'd really be angry. Notice there is, as of now, no public input on this move. Can't wait to see how the Cobb tea party folks justify this.

They are certainly a strange bunch. I don't really know why they have the inferiority complex that they do, nor will I ever fully understand it. Instead, of enjoying what success they have they constantly look to the otherside to justify it instead of just accepting it at face value. For example, They can't have a Saints related thread where compare them to the Falcons. Obviously some of these are blatant trolls, but there are plenty where they compare the two to seek some type of validation, even though the Falcons are clearly inferior. Maybe that type of stuff gets under their skin so they think it will bother everyone? If that is the case they have much bigger problems then living below sea level.

There isn't. Half those stupid fricks have probably never been farther away from New Orleans than Baton Rouge in their lives. I can guarantee you most of them have never been to Atlanta, and most of the ones who have never ventured very far from their hotel rooms.

I wish anyone who cries racism on this deal would be struck dead. Just an immediate Darwin effect for the better of humanity
That would clean up the area around the Ted quickly since 95% of the population there would instantly kill over.

And you'd be in an idiot. If you don't understand the dynamic between NOLA and Atlanta, especially post-Katrina, you aren't very perceptive.

I guess I'm an idiot. Can you expand on this?

Why? Gwinnett is currently one of the most diverse Counties in the entire US with a school system that is less than 50% white.
Current plans in Gwinnett call for Marta to extend through Jimmy Carter to Gwinnett Place.
