Gurley doesn't owe anybody at UGA anything. I won't think any less of him if he leaves, especially given his family's situation.

Exactly. After Gurley got more than just the 1 game and we have seemingly just rolled over and done hardly anything to help him I would not fault Gurley if he decides to pack up his dorm tomorrow and leave UGA.

The thread that keeps on giving. There will be no riots, except those in some posters' heads.

Don't you just love how rumors and crap take off and build a head of steam? When this first broke, eveyone was going crazy saying he would never play again and trying to find the guy who "forced" him to take the money... and then a few days later the same people were going crazy saying that UGA had done right by hiring the lawyer and also saying that he would only get one game. Fast forward once again to the new anti-admin crowd once again saying UGA is at fault - and then throw in some alters stirring the pot, too.

I really am starting to enjoy reading the melts, especially once I realized how pathetic the fanbase on here really is.

He doesnt owe anybody anything in that sense I suppose. But when you do something selfish like he did it affects every other player on the team who worked hard to win the SEC and the playoffs. If we beat Arkansas and he is reinstated but chooses not to return it is a slap in the face to his peers imo.

Is it really selfish? Think about where the money most likely went.

Players who take money very rarely take it for themselves.

What he did was a slap in the face to his peers, yet most on here won't or refuse to see it that way. Rules are rules and he KNEW the consequences.

Look I get it that his family needs money, but he isnt the only player on the team. He is not the only one who worked all year to be in the position to win the SEC and make the playoff. Most of the players wont play in the NFL and this is the high point of their sport career. It is selfish to not think about them, imo.

Who's to say he didn't think about them?

If I was in his situation, I'd be hard pressed not to take the money. Family takes priority over anything else. I'd hope my teammates understood.

This is all a result of fan's frustrations of just not knowing really anything about the situation. My personal frustration is that we are told in a press conference that this decision will be all but wrapped up today. Then we are told by a tweet before sun up yesterday that is isn't. I think if we were told on Wednesday that this will be an ongoing investivation for quite some time, people would throttle it back some. The worst thing is always not knowing. Now that we know for sure he didn't travel to Arkansas, and the bye week next week, we can all shut up about it and focus on the game at hand just like the same group of guys who blasted Mizzou off their home field last week.

His actions dictate it. This is all in response to the thought of him not returning though, not so much originally taking the money.

All of his teammates don't hate him for it. There are probably a lot out there thinking "damn, sucks he got caught. hope I don't get caught too"

Garcia's comments yesterday really reinforce that.

Of course his teammates dont hate him for it. They probably stand behind him and support him. But if he can come back for UF or AU and this team still has 1 loss I would be fricking pissed off if I played on the team and he just quit.

Yeah, sorry, missed that part. I thought we were talking about whether or not his teammates hate him for selling his name and putting his and their season at risk. I think some were referring to that.

As for leaving the team to prep for the NFL...I personally don't see that as being in his best interest anyways. His teammates aside, I don't see why he'd do it.

I'm with you on this one Spiff. While I don't agree with the stupid rules, they are still the rules that he has to follow. He knew that and yet he still took the money and screwed the team, the school and the fans. Lets win or lose with who we have left and quit beating this dead horse!

Why not? NFL scouts and all have already said that this mess won't affect his stock. So why risk injury? He might as well start preparing himself. I bet in his mind he already has.

He can also sign endorsements and make legal money to help the family if he quits the team, just like Aaron Murray did after he blew out the knee last year.

Good point. We may as well start facing the truth of not seein him in the red and black. The only thing that he messed up was all the monies he is missing out on by not getting the heisman...

Again, I'm ok with that. Win or lose with the ones that we still have.
