It may just be me and sour grapes and shite, but I feel like Chip Towers gets a boner anytime he has the chance to report something negative for UGA. Anybody else see this, or am I crazy?

Just to make the sure the next 24 hours of your lives continue to be agonizing and miserable, remember that time when UGA once sent Joe Cox on a private plane after the team had already left?

And it sounds like UGA has known from the beginning that it's at least a 2-game suspension.......

This is one of the bigger "insider" face plants in a while.....

Sources familiar with the investigation indicate that Gurley wouldn’t be cleared to play even if the committee had received the report by now. According to NCAA statutes, a student-athlete who has received more than $400 in improper benefits is subject to a suspension of at least 20 percent of competition dates. Gurley’s alleged compensation exceeds that amount, sources have told the AJC.

Yup...That's why there is no great rush to judgement by the UGA AD...

That's what they were thinking yesterday. That they knew the amount, investigation isn't finished, and it would have been useless to submit it yesterday.

A person familiar with the investigation of the possible violations by Georgia running back Todd Gurley told the AJC on Friday that it’s a “significant” case of the sale of memorabilia and there is a possibility that Gurley may not be cleared to return to the field this season.

His source also said this as soon as the story broke last week. I'm not sure how much I trust Chip's sources.

ETA: He wrote a story back pedaling this earlier this week.

Really, I thought it was because they are all incompetent, don't care, have other things to do, or are running around with their heads cut off. I must be reading the wrong threads.

So we are not going to petition to fire the lot of them?

It's not what you know, it's what you can prove, and I wish McGarity would have played it with that mindset.

I believe that our brass knows more than the public does, and we've been aiming for 2 game all along. Probably the most accurate/connected guy on a board I've seen said like 2 days after all this started we were looking at 2 games. However, the BIG deal to me is the way our administration and PR has handled this. Just an absolute total nightmare of a clusterfrick from day 1. We have handled this absolutely piss poorly from the start from that regard.

Yep. Which is exactly why we haven't asked for reinstatement yet

Yea I think that's been a big part. I definitely realize they can't (and shouldn't have to) keep us up to date on every little detail. And I know they don't want to come across as stepping on the NCAA's toes right now with everything going on because, like it or not, we aren't in a situation where we can do that. But, somehow finding a way to manage the message a little better would be incredibly beneficial for them.

I mean last week it took until Friday night for McGarity to realize that the predominant attitude was that UGA wasn't standing up for Gurley at all. Then he had to react instead of being pro-active. And no this isn't a 'fire McGarity thing' I trust that they have significantly more information than we do.

A vacuum of information fills with all kinds of craziness that gets passed off as fact and in situations like this, that causes problems pretty fast.
