They definitely have loss of institutional control going against them.

Plus, remember that they reduced the tennis scholarship of one of the girls who reported, in retaliation, which this summary report alludes to. That's an NCAA issue because it involves an athletic scholarship.

No, no, no. Raping students is not an NCAA violation. And neither is covering rapes up or lying about it. NCAA should have never been involved in Penn State mess; they learned their lesson and won't get involved in this.

I think Briles is in danger of getting slapped with a Show Cause from the NCAA.

I don't see how, because I haven't seen any mention of NCAA violations. (The Title IX stuff is federal law, not NCAA rules.) But it's worse than that for him, anyway. He's basically untouchable in any D1 program.

CBSsports.com is ripping him a new one, if you've missed it.

I actually hope Briles' involvement was relatively minor and he is being thrown under the bus, because then he'll let all of Baylor's skeletons out of the closet.

I listen to CBS sports radio at work and on my commute usually. They've been lambasting baylor harshly since the news broke.

Had a friend with no sports or college connection bring this yup in a group chat. He went to stephenville and said a lot of people were backing briles. Also said the steroids thing there was real, he was on the team freshman year and everyone was encouraged to use them. Never forget that Briles' sanctimonious bullshite was always a facade even if this never happened. frick him

I can make fun of regular Baylor fans for being homers but I can't really shite on Briles' daughter for taking his side

Reducing the NCAA scholarship of a girl on the tennis team in retaliation for reporting her rape is definitely an NCAA violation.

Kam Martin said he won't enroll. They officially have a worse recruiting class than A&M if you use the 247 calculator.

Maybe. I'm not so sure. Neither is Andy Staples:

quote:

Don't expect the NCAA to penalize Baylor for this. It has no applicable bylaw, and as the governing body of college sports learned when it went outside its usual process to punish Penn State after the Jerry Sandusky scandal, such penalties will only get the NCAA dragged into and embarrassed in court. The NCAA should stay in its lane and let the proper authorities deal with Baylor.

You may be right on paper, I don't know. But I'll be really surprised if the NCAA gets involved in this.

Everybody is getting involved with this case. There are rumors that the Pepper Hamilton report also has allegations of NCAA infractions, such as player payments and other impermissible benefits.
