It's like the worst that one could imagine about Baylor's program is actually true.

It really sounds like Baylor tried to bribe rape victims.

I wish I could find it in me to be surprised.

I'm not so much shocked a school was capable of that but rather that they did so clearly thinking they could get away with it. I mean, meeting with rape victims to convince them not to go public? How the frick do you think that won't come out eventually?

This isn't 1960

After Patrick Dennehy I don't know how anybody can be surprised. I guess the only surprise is that they learned nothing from that.

I'm probably a horrible human being for this. Don't care.

The more I've read into this I'm shocked that high ranking officials such as Starr and McCaw still have jobs at the university. And if briles is the only one fired from the football staff that will be a joke as well.

My guess is the next Prez will get rid of the AD, and the next HC will get rid of most of the coaching staff. To me, that's how it should be. I think this is far from over. There's a lawsuit in the works, and this will encourage more.

Ok are we far enough in that we can enjoy the schadenfreude? If no, ignore this post.

If so, choice quotes from Baylorfans:

quote:

let's make sure we scorch earth the whole athletics program. Then, when re-alignment rolls around, we can rush to our place in Conference USA..

quote:

I am so done with Baylor. Good luck guys. And fuk most of you. God might love you, I doubt it though. Go Fuk yourselves and Fuk Baylor. This ol boy is done

quote:

Briles was the best thing to happen to BU...feels like someone died

quote:

Bless your heart. I am happy for you. Hope you are on the 50 yard line with the rest of the 30,000 screaming fans. Did we keep the tarp from Floyd Casey? I hope so. We're gonna need it.

quote:

This is the saddest thing. The people running things have changed but the results have not. We seem to have an environment where because they go to the right church on Sunday we believe anything they tell us.

quote:

I knew a few years ago that these Title IX regulations were going to cause a major problem at some university that would eventually lead to Title IX being overturned. I never thought in a million years it would be our program.

quote:

Froggy fans are celebrating because they're too damn dumb to realize we just bought them (and us) a place in the wilderness known as the Mountain West when the Grant of Rights expires and UT, OU etc bolt.

quote:

It's a new world and some people down in Austin have made sure we get to ride the crest of the wave. We should have been smart enough to see it coming, I guess.
(yay conspiracy)

quote:

If I was a Longhorn fan, I'd be very wary about attending a game in Waco ever again. I've got a feeling some violence in the stands and parking lot is highly likely to occur next year and for the foreseeable future.

quote:

Yes, I believe the BOR bailed on Briles rather than put the blame squarely on the Title IX department. It was a public execution for Briles. And all to satisfy public opinion & keep Baylor's name from being drug through the mud by ESPN talking heads.

quote:

Football is just a game. We need to stay positive! Everyone needs to realize we just won a National Tumbling Championship!

quote:

I swore when they hired Steele I was done with the lunatics in Waco. I'm glad I hung around to enjoy the Briles era. They fired me today too. I'm gone after today.

quote:

Long story short, Briles Hired the wrong guy (Bennett). Recruited some questionable guys (as does every competitive team). His mistake is believing in his players. Some of them let him down.

quote:

He was made one of the lambs so we could have another preacher in charge of asylum. Actually that is very fitting. Another Sloan in the making. I'm turning in my Baylor card after today.

quote:

I only wish Kim would retire so BU would be totally irrelavent and simply be a private "Christian" institution, eliminate sports all together. They won't, but it will be the same as if it did. At my age, the chances of ever seeing BU relevant again are very slim. I'm done with college athletics. Floyd Casey just came down so now, McLane will be the Sate of the Art Flea Market.

Bonus round- My lurking got me 100% on the "Chad to replace sumlin" train:

quote:

Those of you suggesting Chad Morris, let me share one thing with you. He lived across the street from me when he was OC at Tulsa (2010-ish). This was during the big realignment craze. He came home one night from practice and joined me and my neighbor on his driveway, we were shooting the breeze. We were talking about realignment, and he immediately jumped in with "Baylor is headed for Conference USA," and that's all it can ever hope for. He seemed to be be pretty happy with idea that at the time. Almost gleeful at the thought of our program being demoted. It's certainly possible his opinion could have changed since then after our success. But remember, he's an aggy. Proceed with caution.

Thanks for going to the trouble. Some of those are keepers to rub in with my family.

This guy gets it.

And then there's this:

quote:

If I was a Longhorn fan, I'd be very wary about attending a game in Waco ever again. I've got a feeling some violence in the stands and parking lot is highly likely to occur next year and for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, because nothing is tougher than a Baylor frat boy!

Why specifically the Longhorns? They went around seeking out guys who were getting kicked out of better programs for being thugs and put them on Baylor's team? They recruited 6 rapists? And then tried to cover up their crimes and obstruct justice so they could keep playing? UTw sabotaged Baylor's Title IX office so that they didn't do anything? Is UTw dastardly and devious? Yes. But Baylor did this to themselves.

Are there any plans for Baylor to release the full Pepper Hamilton report? Where actual names are mentioned.

Reminds me of the old saying “We’ll give him a fair trial, then we’ll hang him.”

Guys like their AD have been virtually found guilty. Is it enough to fire him? Maybe not. But he's not coming back. So you suspend him until you reach a settlement.

Coaches coach until you have a plan in place to go forward and they also reach settlements. The last thing you want to do is have a bunch of potential wildcards out there as the court cases mount.

Today, you have to handle Briles - and maybe he deserves to be fired for cause but with pending litigation it's best to put a gag on him unless you have him on tape threatening victims. Everything else gets handled when it gets handled.

Once again Chip Brown getting credit he shouldn't get.

You know he single handily stopped the PAC 16 right?

They haven't said whether they'd release it or not but they are probably hoping the summary version along with the action plan is enough.

Could they get the "loss of institutional control" from the NCAA? They were under probation for both Men's and Women's basketball during this period (2012-2015).
