what's funny is this is the side of Kyle that the dorks on TA have their panties all twisted about because it isn't "finished" and looks awful.

Mighty fine sight, indeed.

Sarge, do you have tickets you're trying to sell for the SC game? I'm trying to sell my gf on planning a Texas trip around a game this fall.

That would be me. I don't hate it but it's the only side without facade. I realize the space issues, but it would have been nice if the did it like some of the earlier plans.

Where are they, and how much do they cost?

I'm working but will look up my new seat #'s when I get home. Low on the very southwest corner 3rd deck of the new south zone. They should catch shade from the west.

They are face value to my friends.

I'm your friend! Remember, we met back then at that place, ummm, and, ummmm, had a beer? We reminisced about our time at A&M. It was after that game that was so good. Remember?? Sure you do! You said if you ever had any extra tickets you would give, errrr, sell them to me.

I know the conventional wisdom is we have more money than the Vatican too but it's really a cost issue on this. It's just prohibitively expensive due to the curvature and a decision was made that the money was better spent elsewhere. Facade is entirely decorative while most of the Kyle expansion will generate revenue

Last year our opex was taxed because we were unable to raise the necessary capital for a few projects. We gave money from the AD to finish the lockerrooms and for the West Campus weight room and for the SECN control room.

We're obviously not poor but we've really gone deep in our donor base. We're struggling right now for softball and track who both deserve new facilities. Just not a priority to add a facade when it looks pretty good anyway.

I understand it 100%. Its not good to hear about softball and track, but we had been building facilities like crazy the last several years.

Over the last 8 years we have problem spent 650 M.

Olsen Field (~28M), Video board at Olsen, Kyle (485M), Additions to Bright/lobby, New football weight room, improvements to Bright, new locker rooms, west side weight room, additions to Reed, additions to soccer (name escapes me).

yeah exactly! It's really crazy how much we've spent. You're even leaving off the Equine complex, though that's only partial AD use.

And soccer is Ellis Field

Good call.

And even you go just a little further back (~06-07) there is indoor track, indoor football, previous jumbotron, ribbon boards, smaller video boards on wheels, Reed video board, and probably more.

Lot of folks don't realize what sad shape our facilities were in when Byrne came on board in 2003. Virtually every sport needed major upgrades and Wally had always gone cheap and easy, hence the Olsen bleachers, the Zone, Reed. So even the facilities he spent money on needed to be upgraded 5 years later. It's taken a long time to dig out of that hole.

The next AD is going to walk into a goldmine with top notch facilities, that only need to be maintained for the most part, and the revenue will be in place to hire the best coaches in every sport. We're probably still 3-5 years away from that right now (or one big football season).

I'm sure it has been posted before, but for people who may have missed or haven't seen it in awhile here is a time lapse starting before any construction.
