I don't know why Daylon wouldn't want to play next to Myles Garrett. How can he get better than that?

Basically. Winning out and or getting malik shuts it down. Losing to LSU or Missouri without getting malik means we're in trouble.

I don't understand this being taken into consideration, it's a self fulfilling prophecy. He's looking at playing at good, solid football programs. Wherever he goes, he's going to make them better and look back and say "We're winning, I made the right decision." But they'll be winning BECAUSE OF HIM!

The A&M defense needs to plug some holes for sure, but he's a big piece of what we need.

Supposedly McNeill is coming back this weekend. TA really is stressing how much more he enjoyed his A&M visit compared to his Texas visit.

Malik sounds like he wants to play with McNeal, but they're far from a package deal.

Me too. I really hope he plays linebacker.

tmc, you have any insight on the position he'll play at the next level? I know we're recruiting him as an athlete.

I'll try to get a more definitive answer tomorrow though I believe he wants to play offense. But at this point I honestly don't think the coaches know where they are going to put him. Think it's going to greatly depend on how this class closes, attrition, etc.

The primary reason we were slow to offer McNeal was because we didn't have a position for him but Sumlin just decided he wanted him as a football player. It's a little like Armani Watts last year (he played WR, CB, and S in HS) who we eventually offered as an ATH, then narrowed that to CB but we moved him to S first thing after we had attrition there. McNeal probably isn't the prototypical anything but put him on a football field and he's just really good wherever he plays.

Yeah I'm all for signing as many "gamers" as possible. Measurements and prototypical is nice, but only if they can't play.

Yeah, McNeal is one of those kids who you just take and figure it out later. He's been so dominate for Poteet on both sides of the ball.....It's a win/win either way.

Apparently we are telling him he's a WR. He can't make it today but malik is still coming

12th Man needs to put on a show. Malik would be as big a get as this program has had in a long time given our need at his position. A front seven including Garrett, Mack and Jefferson next year would fill many a jar.

And the year after that- good lord. Malik is the prospect we need the most IMO.

this thread is so weird. No post that we got a commit?

C Erik McCoy from Lufkin was offered and committed yesterday. We'd been watching him for a while and he's had a really good senior year. We needed a true center prospect. Next year he can shirt and sit behind Matthews and Ledwick then in '16 provide competition for that spot with Ledwick.

We had to have a center this year imo to make sure we have 2 ready to go at all times (and redshirted). We're still on a few other OL but my guess is we are probably done with 4 there this year outside of a guy like Tillery. We're a little light on numbers but I think we'll wait til next year and take a JUCO if we feel we need one then. I've heard good things on Martin, Gus, and Ledwick so our pipeline is probably okay since none of them are likely to start next year.

Look, that's a nice pickup, but it pales in comparison to who we're NOT going to pick up after last night's debacle.

Not sure why you feel it's necessary to advise people that they should also be miserable and to ignore anything good that happens. We lost a game. It's a hunch but we'll probably lose another in your lifetime. You don't need to go off the deep end each time. You should relax and enjoy life a little bro

I don't think last night did much damage to recruiting. Malik was always going to find a reason to pick Texas, and guys like Sheffield, Mack, Murray, etc. are still heavily in our corner.
