Dude. He's looking waaaaaaaay better!

I wonder if anyone else "bought in" during the off-season?

This morning's 5 yes/no questions (seriously listen to the questions....every damn one is leading) with Will featured Mark Hagen talking DTs

re the 105 player limit: I found myself at Navy's practice in Annapolis yesterday. I counted at least 145 players suited up and participating

I'm not sure what CGSC is saying on the freshmen team - though maybe I misunderstood it - as NCAA rules prohibit more than 105 players from participating.

However, I believe the academies have their own set of rules specific to their special needs (for instance they don't give out football scholarships and often "sign" like 50 guys on signing day). I can't say I'm familiar with what they can or can't do so I'd just chalk it up to Academy

A more reasoned view on A&M from Bruce Feldman in his SEC write up. Unlike his buddy Stewart Mandell, he projects us at 9-3 and in a 3-way tie for 3rd in the West
quote:

--I believe A&M is on the rise. The Aggies have two very good young QBs and the best receiving corps in the conference. (Watch out for FR Christian Kirk. He’s a stud.) New DC John Chavis also takes over a defense that is coming of age at a good time. There’s finally depth on the defense led by budding star DE Myles Garrett. JC transfer Justin Evans brings much needed play-making savvy to the secondary. In 2016, the Aggies should be a legit national title contender.

That's why I asked. It's VERY rare for a freshman to play at a service academy, let alone start.

Ricky Dobbs is an example of a major exception.

This makes me warm on the inside.

hmmm....interesting. Wonder if they are essentially operating under the old bylaws where freshmen weren't eligible

It would make a bit of sense because I don't think they are taking advantage of the summer rules now so most of their freshmen would be way behind the learning curve. Also, the idea behind freshmen ineligibility fits with the Academy missions - allow students a year to acclimate to college without the extra demands of travel, practice, etc

Liucci's fall camp sunshine pumping is at an all-time high this year. You can tell he is really trying to compensate for the creeping doubt in the fan base about Sumlin.

His updates are laughably transparent.

Is there creeping doubt?

Maybe Last season is too far gone for me, but I don't remember doubting him as our coach except for that post game presser after bama, where it looked like he was on the verge of tears.

Well, and I probably started doubting him after we lost out on some eventual sip commits. , but I thought this was just me being my usual negative self and that I was in the minority.

59-0 and the complete lack of player excitement and game planning against LSU and Mizzu caused a lot of doubt. The complete "blah" nature of our final two games against very meh teams was very discouraging, and the Bama game speaks for itself. The recruiting has only made things worse.

I can't remember an offseason where so many threads got whacked on the pay board since the Fran era.

I chalk all of the blah of the late season with the issues that arose during the year. Staff learned from it. Let them move on. Some people just like the drama though I guess

I hate the drama, but the fact is Sumlin legit lost his team at one point last year. Many find that troubling.

Yeah I can agree with that.

I disagree. Sunshine pumping is at an all time high because this is likely our most talented team in the last 15 years.

If Sumlin "legit lost" his team last year then we don't go and beat the #3 team on the road afterwards. I understand the concerns, but I think you are reaching a little bit.

He absolutely lost the team before/during the Bama game. Major conference FBS teams don't get beat like that unless they have quit.

They regrouped after Hill was benched (though still closed poorly after Auburn), but the team unquestionably quit on him in October.

My thoughts are that the team quit on kenny and snyder. Those types of divisions in a team cause damage. I really don't get the impression they quit on sumlin though

I don't see how you can separate one from the other. Its ultimately Sumlin's arse on he hook for the 59-0 beating they got.

when a team truly quits on their HC, you don't finish with a winning record. Our past has taught us as much.

I mean we were a couple miracles away from 5-7, so that isn't overly convincing.

Getting back to the subject of Fall Camp...

Any significant injuries through two days of practice?
