But so many of the big plays we gave up last year were the result of 2 or 3 guys blowing their assignments.

I don't pretend to be an expert on big-time college football defenses (far from it), but it was just amazing last year how often we would see opposing receivers just running wide-arse open all over the field. Players will miss assignments, I realize that, but when it's 2 or 3 on the same play, and that happens multiple multiple times, then you've got a major problem on your hands. The fact that it continued to happen all year long shows how few live options Coach Snyder had. Just by learning assignments, and the coach having options when the players don't, should in itself make a huge difference. At least that's what I tell myself.

To your point, I'd like to believe that we've gotten a significant upgrade in Coach Joseph. His comments about attention to detail, quizzes, and making the DBs learn the entire defense are very encouraging to me. Hopefully it shows on the field.

I've got another theory: Could it be that Marcel Yates was spending the bulk of his time trying to campaign for the Boise State DC job instead of doing his job? Could it also be that he was spending a lot of his time poisoning the mind of Dylan Sumner-Gardner as well?

Once the playoff was announced, it was no secret that Chris Petersen saw the writing on the wall...and it's not like anyone was shocked when Kiffin was fired...certainly not Sarkisian.

Don't know. Whatever it was, it seemed that the DB's made 0 improvement over the course of the entire season.

I have the feeling (and it's just that, a feeling) that Kenny is going to be named the starter. It might be a storyline the whole season, but for now I think it's him. I think people are expecting our QBs to be utter failures. Can't wait to piss all over that theory.

Time flies don't it?

I usually post in the late night threads on the General Board if it's slow at work, but as far as the zoo and OR, I mostly browse and do drive-bys these days.

may be correct and it wouldn't shock me to see it break there first (I certainly won't find it there ) as it will pass word to mouth. But given the time between when you posted this and now, my guess is that was bullshite

We should see a full 2-deep in a few
