Honestly I think the biggest key is going to be if Mastro can be as advertised. If we can have a MLB that stuffs the middle and leads the defense out there it changes things almost as much as having a real pass rush. We suffered greatly from not having a leader at MLB last season and guys constantly looked confused and out of position. I think we have a number of guys that can play Sam and Will if you have a strong Mike that can lead them.

Has there been any further confirmation about Shaan Washington? I've only seen it reported by Hamm.

Sumlin announced it after practice interview today. Also mentioned that Shaan may redshirt but it will depend on how quickly he recovers

Sucks for Shaan, but I wouldn't hate it if he redshirted, as long as Baggs plays mediocre. What has the return on Baggs been thus far?

Baggs is Baggs. When asked to be physical against interior lineman he struggles. He's always been okay in space though, I think he lacks suddenness to be effective on the blitz or make knifing moves through on running plays. But he was actually fairly adequate at SAM last year when he filled in there despite a mid-season position switch.

I doubt Sumlin would have brought up redshirting if he felt it was a dire situation. But I do wonder who we have tabbed at the Jack now. I think Baggs was playing 2nd team but I think it's more likely we move Alaka in or reshuffle the LBs for that package. I imagine we'll play around with it some.

'94, any reason to be concerned over Lambo's injury? Did he play in the scrimmage?

Myles Garrett sat out today presumably with a light injury

I don't think so but I'm not 100% on that

Our LB situation seems...not good. We are thin, undersized, and inexperienced.

OTOH, our DL physically looks better than I've seen in a very long time. We have some experience on the DL as well, also some youth, but I feel much better about that position group than I do LB.

Oh, I hear you loud and clear. I'm just trying to get some clarity on a report from another board that Lambo not suiting out today was related to the scrimmage. TB, as much as I'd like him to succeed, is still showing the signs of being a head-case.

Banks actually addressed it in his post-practice presser. Looks like we're still a week away from Lambo really kicking because they are being cautious.

Banks also talked a little Speedy as PR and you can tell how excited he is about it.

Thanks. We have to have Lambo. This year, of all years, we can't afford giving away points.

I really think Howard Matthews is going to be a strength for us this year. Is that the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard?

Yes

But seriously I hate on him but I hope he brings it together and does well. I'm sure he's a great guy.
