Tier 6
Joker
Tier 5
Freeze
Tier 4
Dooley
Sumlin
Muschamp
Tier 3
Chizik
Mullen
Franklin
Pinkel
Richt
Tier 2
Miles
Spurrier
Petrino
Tier 1
Saban

I did mine worst to best since I like to break the rules.

And kind of like Pearl's opinion of basketball schools, tier 2 is a lot closer to tier 6 than tier 1

What has Mullen done to be in tier 3? He isn't on par with Chizik or Richt.

Tier 3 is the above average group.

So a National Championship winning coach = a coach that can only beat Ole Miss in the West. Makes sense.

Glad you agree. It makes things easier on me....I don't have to make crap up to support myself.

I tend to agree only bc he's been a HC longer, but his biggest problem with coming out of the gates fast early in the season. It seems UGA is terribly sluggish early in the year and gets a hell of a lot better as the season goes on. Isn't some of that coaching though is my question.

Maybe he will slip up and beat a team in the West not named Ole Miss.

Had Penn State hired Mullen over Richt (or for that matter James Franklin) I would cut off my peener with a rusty blade

wrong. their head to head record is 3-3, so i'd say neither one is clearly ahead of the other.

Petrino at LSU would do better than Miles. Petrino is at the top with Saban. If we are strictly speaking of coaching ability. Look what Petrino does with a bunch of 3 stars. He coaches them up is what he does.

Sumlin goes 5-7 in the CUSA when he loses his starting qb, and Derek Dooley goes 5-7 in the SEC when he loses his starting qb and wr. Why is Sumlin higher???
