How can he be 9-2 when you list 3 games he lost?

I never liked the hire of Champ or Mac.But as a fan I just hoped for the best during each tenure.

After what seems to be two swings and a miss, its time for UF to hit a homerun hire.

I never hope for my team to lose games to get the HC fired. Imo thats not what real fans do. But I hope that our new AD looks at the current state of this team and sees that this guy just isnt cutting it. He claimed awhile back that he could put his dog in at QB and win games, well looks like its time to put the pads on that mut because we have yet to impress vs teams of equal talent or even teams that are sub par.
Not to forget that hes getting his arse handed to him in recruiting also.

One would think that when the head coach is clearly pushing hard behind the scenes to have a home conference game cancelled, the administration knows they have a loser on their hands.

I would fire him for being scared to play an SEC game.

Bump.

Worst Recruiting Coach Florida has had in 30 years, likely to preside over every single year of the only stretch in which we've ever been outside of the Top 10 (recruiting) for 3 consecutive seasons.

At best finishes the season 8-3 (goes 2-1 vs. USCe, LSU and FSU) more likely finishes 7-4 with 6-5 a possibility.

For the sake of propriety we have to give him 2017 but all that's likely to do is make the team less talented for the next guy.

Yup.

The top SEC schools are NFL caliber competitive. There's no room for programs like Georgia, Florida, Alabama and LSU to have mediocre coaching.

Cant recruit. Claims his dog can score in his offense yet we struggle every game to move the ball.

If not for what defense we do have we'd be destroyed.

If I am not mistaken, doesn't Vandy always play the gators tuff? And now that they have a legit SEC type defense, they are not the blow outs they used to be. ANY QB play & they are in good shape. No way a new A.D. comes in & fires the HC and in this case, it would be dumb; fire him & how many HC would that be in how many yrs?

He won the East last year and is in position to do it again this year. It is completely insane to suggest he should be fired. That's not to say there isn't room for improvement for him as a coach, but that is true for anyone not named Saban.

McElwain is a good coach but I just don't know if he is a good fit at Florida. He certainly wasn't worth what the Gators paid for him.

I would give him more time. He is playing with Muschamp's talent, for the most part. Give him time to get his players in there and see what's what.

That's part of the problem-- if recruiting services have any grounding in reality, McElwain's players are going to be worse than Muschamp's by a decent margin. I don't think people outside of our fanbase get how shitty recruiting is under Mac-- Florida has never finished outside of the top 10 in recruiting for three straight years, not even during 3 year periods where a coach was on the hotseat for a year, then fired the next season, then a new coach took over. Each of Mac's first 3 classes will be worse than the class Muschamp recruited during the 4-8 season.
