Bama has never beaten an AU team that finished the season ranked in their entire history.

Y'all finished ranked in both the AP and Coaches last season.

In AU.

Read the two posts before that one. It is obvious I am talking about games played in AU and I left out the "in" in the last post which I corrected before your post.

Sheesh, I'm disappointed in my fellow Aubies. This was too easy.

Let us say, hypothetically speaking, Gus goes 8-5 this year. Now to be honest I think their season lines up a lot better then that but you never know, lose a few close games and things can snowball pretty quickly.

OK, his seat is now warm. Next year maybe the schedule gods aren't so kind and Gus goes 8-5 again.

If Auburn fires him after that then they'd be canning a coach who took them to a Natty game, has won the SEC, and not had a losing season in his stay on the plains. Frankly that would be stupid as hell.

Who would want the job if putting up a 34-17 record over four years (while competing in the West and having Georgia as your cross division rival) was enough to get you fired?

Love how you keep moving the goalposts.

I'll bet sometime in your childhood you were bullied by a kid who was an Auburn fan.

No, it was obvious what I was saying.

You just aren't too bright.

Yeah. If we had a 5 loss season that was "standard," meaning we got dominated in a game and lost 4 others in normal, not embarrassing fashion, I think we'd start to worry but his seat wouldn't really be hot.

If we had another 4-5 loss year that included huge blowouts to all of our rivals, it'd be problematic.

3 losses wouldn't be a big deal, especially if we were competitive, won a rivalry game or two and looked like an improving team.

So Alabama's wins over AU only count if y'all finish ranked and they happen in JH. Gotcha.

Lol if Auburn would stay consistently ranked, like Bama, it wouldn't be an issue.

You don't understand. Wins against Auburn only count if they're ranked in the top 15 and have exceeded at least 9 wins. Also, Gus is credited for the entire 2010 and 2013 seasons, but not 2009, 2011, or 2014 seasons because he was held back from Chizik andJohnson. Wins over 7-6, 3-8, 6-7, and 4-8 bama teams count though.

I originally replied without scrolling down. Should have known better though by the op's name. Shame on me.

I asked a legit question. There is precedent for the scenario.

What precedent?

Auburn in 2012 was a horrific and embarrassing display of football, the team had given up, and players were getting arrested left and right. It was the worst season in six decades for Auburn. Any SEC team would have pulled the plug on Chizik in 2012.

And you know that. It just doesn't fit your narrative.

Considering the expectations for Auburn this year, I think there would be some heat if they drop 3 or 4 games especially after the hiring of Muschamp. Malzahn would have to deliver big time in 2016 or the clock would start ticking.

Bama has also established a precedent for running off a NC Coach with Gene Stallings. That is why Saban was looking at TX last year. His life will be miserable if he loses to Gus again.

In the interest of saving time, are you going to continually misrepresent this, or are we actually going to get somewhere? There are limits to my boredom to where even watching you spin a yarn about auburn loses all entertainment value.

isn't that what doomed Perkins? Also it's a little unfair for either program simply because the game is more than a rivalry now because it's the last game of the season if both teams were in contention for the conference championship and therefore a playoff birth it would be as much because the loser failed to reach the conf championship than because it was Alabama or Auburn. It just so happens that the iron bowl is the last game. If they played at the beginning of the season where the loss could be overcome I don't think the implications would be the same. JMO
