Will Gus Malzahn be on the hot seat with a 3 to 5 loss season?

The shine will be off that is for sure. Even more so if Alabama comes in and beats them. And how about their new DC if this happens?

Part of me wants to say it'd be dumb if he were. 8-5 and #22 isn't really a bad season, even though expectations were much higher. But you see how quickly they lost patience with Gene Chizik and Terry Bowden, so it's possible.

Auburn has to be better than Alabama. That is all it takes to sustain your status as head coach at Auburn. You saw it with Tuberville. Outside of 2004, most of his Auburn teams were average with a few good ones. But the one constant was he beat Alabama. Beating Alabama bought Tuberville more time than he probably should have had. You saw what happened after Saban laid the wood 36-0 in 2008.

I had often said when Tubby lost to Alabama he was toast and I was right. I will go so far as to say if the 57 yarder had been good instead of run back Gus' job would be on the line this year. It will be if they lose to Bama at home this time his job will be on the line the following year at Alabama.

Lose that one and he is gone.

How much pressure will Saban get if he loses to Gus this year? That would be 2 out of 3 and that 630 yarder last year. He almost went to TX because of the rednecks expectations, could you imagine.

Do y'all ever check facts? Tubs was 7-3 vs Bama, Bowden 3-2..... Chiz LOSS the team.

8-5 would put Malzahn on a warm seat.

Now Bama will fire coaches for losing to Auburn, See Curry and Shula. Both fine coaches who could not beat Auburn.

ETA: tubs resigned. He said it, we said it, he son is at Auburn, tubs wears Auburn gear. But, but, but he 83 year old Grandmother who was questioned by a reporter said he was fired.

Calm down. You are just mad that I stated facts. Auburn's goal is to be better than Alabama. Alabama's goal is to be better than everyone.

Also Curry wasn't fired and Shula was released because he couldn't beat anyone.

I usually align with Alabama fans when it comes to bashing Auburn due to our shared history, but your handle and constant Aubsession is supremely little brotherish

You did not state facts. Tubs was not fired, same as Curry. Curry was not offered a contract extension and was run out of TTown. Chiz was not fired for losing to Bama, he went 0-8, the worse team in Auburn history.

Auburn's goal is to win championships. You keep spouting the Bama party line does not make it a fact.

Yes, if we lose 5 games.

No, if we lose 3, but compete in all. In other words, 3 losses in OT would not get him on the hot seat.

5 blow out SEC losses- by 17 or more- would.

A 10 win season wouldn't put him on the hot seat, and I only think a 8 win season would make his seat warm.

If he pulls out 2 8 win seasons this season and next, then his seat is definitely hot.

If he has a 3-5 loss season and one of those is Alabama then yes. Losing to Bama seems to be the final straw for an Auburn coach or Alabama for that matter. I neve rin a million years thought Tubs would ever be run out of town ( which I still think was a big mistake by AU) with his record against top 10 teams and Bama but 36-0 was too much.

If Gus hadn't pulled wins out of his arse against State, A&M, Georgia and Bama his first season he'd be on it the seat now.

It is pretty funny that bammer tards like you are such experts on what Auburn's goals are, yet bammer is the school who had a coach leave for another school the same year he won a conference championship due to his inability to beat Auburn

Directly relates to how Bama is doing. If Bama makes the playoff and Gus flames again. He's fricked.

One thing Barner hasn't learned how to do yet is handle success.

It wasn't just the way Alabama beat Auburn in 2008. Tubs had an arrogance (complacency) about him when Saban was hired that cost him his job. The disaster of bringing in Tony Franklin and all the shite that got leaked out to the media cost him his job. His 2005/2006 teams were good enough talent wise to make a serious run but as usual with Tubervilke we lost games we had no business losing.

Only bammers would be dumb enough to talk about somebody else being lucky when you have received more luck during Saban's tenure than most teams have received during their entire existence.

If you took away Colt McCoy's injury, the second chance against LSU in 2011, and the choke job by Oregion 2012, how much of a hot seat would Saban be on? He would be going into his 8th or 9th season still having zero national championships without all that luck

I'm sure there are plenty things out there you can use to stroke your ego about being an alabama fan, no need to just make shite up.

This thread is stupid.

Gus is one of the most secure coaches in the SEC right now.

If any coach sucks bad enough he will get fired. Duh.
