Why Won't Auburn or Alabama Play Troy?

If they can play Samford, Jax St., Alabama A&M etc. then why not Troy? I have always wondered why they won't play. Anyone know or have an idea?

I suppose it has something to do with neither school wanting to play the third best football school in Alabama. There is no benefit to doing so.
However, I wish that both teams played Troy every year mainly because it would be a fun arse tailgate, as I have many friends that went to Troy.

Pearl doesn't care about that... He schedules to maximize RPI (like UAB). Troy doesn't do that.

We already legitimized one second tier program in the state 70 years ago due to pressure from the legislature. We've regretted it ever since. Why would we want to repeat that mistake?

It's not really in Alabama's interest to schedule these teams. Acting against your own self interest when you have leverage is not the way of this world. Maybe it shouldn't be that way, but do you America bro?
