Saban came out and said he likes scheduling in state schools several years back but it is out of his control. Of course no one believes it. It would take him walking down the hall and saying schedule this game and it would happen.

That's silly.
Everyone knows he would call the UA President and the AD to HIS office and give them the decision!

If they can play Samford, Jax St., Alabama A&M etc. then why not Troy?

Just like LSU won't play Tulane.
Not that they couldn't beat Tulane, we just don't schedule them.
Why piss off the hybrid LSU/Tulane fan?

What is the benefit of doing it? You play Western Kentucky your name is mentioned in Southern Kentucky all week. Your expanding your footprint. Your gaining something out of it

Theres no reason to. Tulane gets 100% of the benefit

Because they know not to frick with the Flagship school of Alabama.

Losers attitude. If you feel your team is the best then you will schedule anyone.
Stop being pussies.
I don't really give a damn who Auburn or Bama plays. You asked for a reason, I gave you one.
Are you really implying that Bama is scared of Troy?

So are you saying Alabama needs help becoming a national brand?

State itself and some fans are the only ones to benefit. But think about it, which fanbase is more likely to have fans come to the game at BD stadium, WKU or Troy?
Other schools around the country do it every now and then. Has UA played a school from the state besides Auburn in the last 10-20 years?

The main excuse is "everything to lose, nothing to gain", so yes that is what is being implied as the excuse here

No, but it does help.

There would probably be slightly more Troy fans.

Nope. No reason to.

Well there is the reason of keeping revenue in the state and helping citizens. There is equally not really a reason to play any of the OOS non-p5 teams on the schedule as well

Troy would sell all 10,000 tickets allotted the first day (if they could process that many orders in one day).
USM used to bring a good crowd to BHam and TTown back in the day and Troy would bring a similar crowd.

No, but why not continue to promote yourself when you can

BDS is going to be sold out regardless who we play

If Troy gets $600,000 from Bama or Troy gets $600,000 from Tennessee or Georgia the net effect is the same on the state

This is correct and is why I think the P5 needs to completely split away
