No, it didn't. There never was any such legislation. There was a resolution passed encouraging it, and then funds were threatened to be withheld. There has never been any legislation mandating the game be played. Like I said...a myth that a lot of fans on both sides buy into.

Last time Bama did it, they went on to lose to Duke in the Sugar Bowl. Then, they went undefeated the with a Rose Bowl win the next year and didn't win a National Title.

So, it's obviously bad luck.

Besides, not playing them and saying f' the other in-state schools is a tradition...where are we without our traditions?
