My answer to that question is that they are still the most talented team in the country. Question marks sure. But so does everyone else. I believe that just like the past 6 years they will be in contention for both the SEC title and National Championship into November or later.

Maybe because they just lost 7 games in the last 5 years and won three BCS national championship games.

But really, take a look at our schedule.

Unless Florida finds an entire offensive unit, I don't see us losing any of the first 4 games.

Ole Miss is a possible upset, but I remain unconvinced they can put it all together yet especially with the loss of Moncrief.

Arky is Arky.

A&M is a tricky one. I have not seen anything from them during Sumlin's career that says they could put together a top quality defense. After losing two of the most dynamic players in the country and a cornerstone LT, it isn't hard to say they will take a step back.

@UT and @LSU could be tricky. I feel like we will handle UT for now, but I can certainly see LSU giving us a lot of trouble.

MSU plays us tough, but the talent disparity is too much I think.

Auburn is going to be the toughest game of the year.

In summary, the only games I can really see us losing is @LSU and Auburn. Another 10 in season is absolutely a realistic possibility and to say otherwise is being overly negative.

Idk if you've missed the last 5 years, but Alabama has proven itself to be a worthy pick for the preseason prognosticator. Of course they don't win the title every year, but if you had to choose 1 team, it's certainly understandable to favor Alabama.

In our 2 losses we had 500 & 600 yards, missed 3 FGs and dumbazz Saban refused to kick one from the 11 vs. AU, in the OU loss we had 5 turnovers in a meaningless game that I am pretty sure Saban was trying to showcase A.J. in, thus far more passing than ball control.

The things you avoided talking about, Smart is back coaching the DB's after a 2 year absence, Brown was basically fired. Kevin Steel is back coaching inside linebackers. We will have the best defensive line ever at Bama, imho, these guys are beasts. Saban is going back to the run first mentality that the last O.C. got away from. And that's why you will see the Fullback in the backfield again this year.

The last O.C. was always going deep on first down, you will see more roll out passes to the T.E. for 5 or 6 yards than deep routes on first down.

The very reason Georgia can't win titles, Georgian's don't know shyt about football.

Maybe because they are on a two game losing streak.
The IB loss was a total embarrassment and then they doubled-down and got skull-drug by Choklahoma. It's going to take awhile for everyone to forget that train wreck of an ending to last season.

In all honesty, they did pretty well against LSU. I consider us an elite defense.
We didn't have an el;ite defense last year. We would of probably won the west if we had.

I think even Ray Charels would have called a FG from the 11 yard line there.

One team will be favored in any matchup you come up with. Go figure. Try not to over think it. Bama will likely not go undefeated but no one will be favored to beat them.

What is different about this two game losing streak as compared to the last one? Who was predicting Alabama to win it all after losing to Utah?

I think most Bama fans forgot about the Utah fiasco by the end of the 2009 season, don't you?

And congrats on your team's victory in the Outback Bowl with the second coming of Jordan Jefferson. Coming off of a two bowl game losing streak, I am sure it was a relief to see tDecline halted.

We shut down JFF and beat Auburn pretty good. I disagree with you, humbly.

Wait, you're posting in a thread that asks Why so much preseason love for Bama?, which exists because so many people across CFB are again predicting Alabama to have a successful season/title run. Which would make it pretty fricking obvious that the "trainwreck" as you so stupidly put it, has indeed been forgotten.

All you need to concern your peanut brain with is Alabama going for 4 in a row over LSU this season.

The last time we lost two games in a row we came back with 20 straight wins. Just saying.

Where as I do not think, Bama wins the title this year, the conference, the west or makes the playoff. I do think their reputation and their coach has earned the right to be considered a favorite this year.

Last year the luck broke bad for them late, where as they got the luck the previous years.

The wreck that was the sugar bowl , was a combination of things, all of it bad, even though I do think OU was hot that night, and it could be the catalyst for this year.

I really just do not think the playoff is going to be the greatest thing for the SEC, it may be monetarily , especially getting multiple teams in the 4 at large games each year. The SEC just has a tendency to have teams lose late, and whether or not they want to admit it or not, the committee is going to have a hard time leaving out conf champs, and I think it may take time for a conf to get 2 in the playoffs.

as a note I have LSU vs UGA/UF winner for the SECCG

Remember when LSU could beat Alabama outright and they didn't have to dickride Auburn? Good times.

and I humbly point out our loses to Georgia, Ole Miss and Alabama. With an elite D we would have won at least two if not all three of those games.

What makes LSU have less question marks than Bama? LSU returns their oline, but loses most of their offensive skill power. Both teams are replacing quarterbacks, and neither quarterback replacement seems ideal right now. LSU has less question marks in their secondary than Bama, but more question marks on their D-line.

The only teams in the SEC that were ahead of us in total defense in the SEC were Alabama and Florida. I think that's elite. Agree to disagree? LINK
