Why can't Auburn's secondary fly around and make plays like...

LSU's, Bama's, Florida's, etc...
It seems like since we lost Muschamp, our secondary just doesn't fly around and make plays. We didn't do it under Paul Rhoades, and we sure as hell aren't doing it under Roof.
We have obviously recruited well the past 2 classes, and you would think one of them would be out there making plays (i.e, Tyrann Mathieu as a true freshman and sophomore).
We never gets INTs, we hardly ever tip passes away, etc... It seems like the the players are in position, sometimes. But they never make the play. Then, sometimes, people are running wide open. When I watch LSU, Bama, and Florida, they don't have just one player around the ball - They have 2 and 3 making plays on the ball.
Thoughts, Auburn fans? I think we need to clean house on the defensive side. Roof needs to be gone for sure, and Thigpen may also be a problem. Just my opinion. I'm tired of this sorry arse defense.

You miss McNeill. And Thorpe, McNeal, etc aren't Mattheiu, Kirkpatrick, Menzie, Claiborne, etc.

Anddddddd Bates is more concerned with using the hit stick than actually making the freaking tackle.

Chizik was hired for his defensive prowess. That's where the problem lies.

He's a linebacker, but I agree. I don't want him on the field at all.

Out of all the practices I have seen (on video of course, and there have been tons), I've never seen him work with the DBs.

I cannot remember who it was, but an AU fan was telling me how Muschamp did no good to AU's secondary and only hurt it when he was there.

I've heard Thig is around because he can recruit. I wish Chizik would just fire Teddy today and do it himself. I honestly think I could do a better job... And I'm just a poster on TD.com.

This. Awesome freshman year at safety but he is a terrible linebacker.

Because, from everything I have seen, he doesn't run it. He lets his assistants do their jobs, Just my opinion.

I think it has a lot to do with the style of defense you guys play. It seems you play a lot of base cover 2 and that is a read and react defense. Bama and LSU play more press coverages.
