My point is that Gus offenses can be stopped. 2011 is a great example of this. Aubs were trying to argue that his schemes are unstoppable, so I was simply pointing out that is not the case.

Gus is a great offensive mind, but his offenses can be beaten. Saban is a great defensive mind. His defenses can be beaten. See how that works?

Of course his offense can be stopped. Especially with an entirely new OL and that shitshow of QBs we trotted out there in 2011. Not to even mention the restraints out on him by Chizik.
I assume Saban's defense isn't so effective with no talent either.

Well, they should be very good and challenging again. It could be possible if they have a star replacement for Tre Mason. But that dude got 300+ yards in the SECCG. He ran for 660+ yards in their three biggest games at the end of the season (Bama, Mizzou and FSU)and had 7 TDs combined to go with all the yards. He was the perfect RB for that system. And he actually had a higher YPC average in 2012 and over 1000 rushing in Chizik's offense (on a terrible team) - so he was a great player and not just a great system player. The dude had great endurance which was perfect for what Auburn does.

Yea, when they don't have much talent, or are replacing 7 starters...or in this case, both.

Clint Moseley and Barrett Trotter had to replace Cam Newton. Auburn also had to replace 4 starting offensive linemen (Lee Ziemba, Ryan Pugh, Byron Isom, and Mike Berry), Darvin Adams, Terrell Zachery, and Eric Smith. Did I mention that AJ Greene and John Sullen were two of the guys replacing offensive linemen? They sucked.

The scheme is what lead Auburn to winning 8 games. Without Gus Malzahn's offense, I don't want to even think of the offensive production.

Yep. We probably win 5 games in 2011 with just about any other OC. We lost almost our entire Oline, Cam, our best receiver and our hback. Gus's schemes were about all we had going for us that year.

300+ yards? Impressive. 21 points? Not amazing
So, how about taking a look at your BCS Championship season of 2009 and tell me which offense you faced was more successful against you. Should be easy to find another opponent with more yards and more offensive points, since Malzahn's attack was shut down so effectively by a defense that all Tidesters agree was well below the standards of the 2011-2012 squads.

Amazing how bad Chizik really was. Gus saved his arse from winning 5 with the defending champs..

Bama fans, don't act like your team didn't get lucky a couple of times. How about all those teams that lost that really shouldn't have that got your team into the championship. That is just as lucky if not more lucky that a tipped pass.
At least the Auburn player did something to win the game. If those teams don't choke then you guys have maybe 1 instead of three championships over the Saban era.

True.

We were closer to going 4-8 in 2011 than we were to going 8-4 last year.

Of course they CAN make it back but are not very likely to.

Even if you're the best team in the country it's difficult to make the championship game. The odds are always more likely you won't than you will.

The SEC is basically assured of a playoff spot. If Auburn manages to win the SEC (tall order) they'll make the playoffs, but now you have to win a game against a top 4 opponent to make the NCG, which makes it that much harder.

Ironic. Bama didn't need anyone to lose a championship game to back in. They also won.

No, they just needed Oklahoma State to lose against Iowa State, IIRC.

Auburn won't make it back because of how difficult it is to repeat and with the playoffs being new. If they do make the playoffs they'll have to play a new defense they've never seen before just like they did with FSU. LSU and Georgia stand the best chances of making it in my opinion. I would love if they played eachother in it.

Last game of the year before the bowls are set. Sorry, but that's the ultimate back-in. Dude's post was stupid.

All I'm saying is luck seems to part of a championship...usually. Sometimes a team is so dominant that they can just beat their opponents clearly and plainly. If anyone thinks that Auburn (some of the luckiest sons of bitches) can't make it back to the championship, then they are stupid. With that offensive power and question marks on a lot of the SEC's defenses this season...I see them having as good of a shot as anyone in the country.

Yeah. Malzahn has figured out the one style of offense that can never be stopped no matter how much time is given. NFL teams couldn't stop that offense ( for the purpose of this post let's just ignore the LSU game. Thanks)

Yeah, considering LSU held us to 437 yards, I guess that would be considered as "stopping" Gus' offense given the numbers we put up on everybody else.

Good argument.
