Holtz was fired. Hatfield is a little complex, he left for Clemson (not Rice, idiot). Hatfield left to Clemson amidst rumors that he was on the hotseat at Arkansas.

When was the last coach to leave Arkansas for another job? I'll give you 50 years to look back at Arkansas' coaches.

Uh no one wants your shitty coaches. That's a horrible argument. Because your coaches fail and don't get offered by bigger and better programs, does not mean you are a top ten job.

You really did not know anything prior to 2001, did you? You honestly have no clue which is not a problem. I was born in 1986 so I didn't really get the chance to follow good Arkansas' clubs up until Petrino got to town. So at least you can be honest. You probably do not realize that Arkansas had better records than LSU in 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Had a national championship, more bowl appearances and more top 25 finishes. And I didn't go back farther than the 60s because I thought 40 years of finishing ahead of LSU would suffice. You are completely ignorant to just how much Saban did for your program. You took off like a rocket in the 2000s and we got left behind with Nutt. I have to give credit where it is due. That was an awesome hire and he did more for LSU than anyone could have. I hope we can get a coach that does for our program what he did for yours.

Looks like the all time head to head record between us is 35-20-2 LSU, and let's not forget about that great conference you were playing in before the SEC all of those years. Yeah I'd have to say Arky is too legit to quit

Stop right there. Nick Saban isn't the difference in programs. In 1980 LSU WAS # 10 all time in wins. Arkansas could beat LSU for the next 14 years and not be .500 , so stop acting like a coach , that stayed for 5 seasons, is the difference in our programs. Arky has always and will always be beneath LSU.

Holtz was hired by Notre Dame after we fired him. Clemson took Hatfield. Broyles was our A.D. Ole Miss took Nutt (my condolences).

I agree. Arky will always be a middle of the road SEC team with a few above average seasons scattered about.

You could have said the exact same thing about LSU before 2003.

You missed the point, LSU wasn't shite before 2003, all it took was the right coach to get the program to the next level.

Still won 8 SEC titles before 2003. What has Arky done again during their time in the SEC again?

I get your point but I wouldn't have grouped LSU and Arky together even before that. I'm not trying to say that we weren't ever shitty as hell but I'm terms of historical achievement I wouldn't expect us to always be stuck in the mud per se.

You talking about not winning the West or the reason Petrino got canned?

Do you really believe this? As it looks you shouldn't win at least 1 in the next 20 years.

Great thread. Watching the Hoggers trying to defend no championships and a disastrous post season record is always entertaining.

Oh FYI..LSU won their first BCS game in 2001 when they absolutely destroyed the Big10 Champ in the Sugar Bowl for the first time.

Please let us know when/if Arkansas gets the BigTen champ in the Sugar Bowl.... we can compare notes.

well, for one, better than anyone seems to want to give us any credit for. we've been to one fewer SECCG than Auburn since we joined. the problem, as the OP states, is why we cant get over the hump and win one.

id like to know how many AD's you other schools have gone through, because i only know of two: Frank Broyles and Jeff Long. Since we joined the SEC, Broyles single handedly ran our shite into the ground. See Al Davis for comparisons. And if it wasnt for Broyles, our basketball program would never had deteriorated like it did.

From what I can tell, and if im wrong someone correct me, Holtz and Petrino are the only coaches we've had that didn't have in-house, Broyles connections. And it just so happens they both had the Hogs in the NC conversation while they coached here.

id say Arkansas was hamstrung by lack of stable leadership in the athletic department, which Long seems to have corrected.
