I would be more shocked for us to be 7-2 than 9-0 going into uga.

Competent qb play does wonders.

If LSU can get anything from QB play, they are going to win it.

The odds of Auburn starting 9-0 with what they have on defense is like 5%. Or even less.

I'm glad you know so much about our defense.

Auburn's offense is based on running plays as quickly as possible. You'll either score quickly, or punt quickly. This forces your defense to spend more time on the field because the offense doesn't have long sustained clock-eating drives.

Your defense will likely be better, but your style of offense will prevent the defense from being elite.

I'm also curious if Muschamp has ever been a defensive coordinator on a team with a high octane offense.

Do some research. Auburn's speed on offense has nothing to do with any struggles on defense. Last year Auburn ran 73.5 plays per game. For comparison's sake Florida ran 72.4 plays per game last year. If you honestly think one more play per game is going to devastate Muschamp's defense you clearly haven't given your point much thought. In fact, there were teams in the SEC alone with similar plays per game to Auburn who had solid defenses. Miss St. was one of those teams. They had the #10 scoring defense last year. They actually ran like 80 plays per game which was more than Auburn. Ole miss was another one. They had the nations #1 scoring defense and ran 72.5 plays per game. Find another talking point.

Nobody has seen him play. A half to start the season isn't enough of a sample size for anyone to be crowning AU the west champs.

JJ has more complete games under his belt than that. JJ started for Auburn in 2013 as well. He also came into a game in 2013 when Nick got hurt and played from the first quarter onwards. Both times he won SEC freshman of the week. Just because you failed to look doesn't mean it didn't happen. JJ knows exactly what it means to start for Auburn.

Auburn isn't special on D and they lost their starting QB. If Johnson was better than Nick Marshall, why was Johnson on the bench?

The simple answer to that question is because Gus Malzahn made a mistake. In 2013 when JJ arrived at Auburn in the summer he was a true freshman with zero college experience. Several donors were allowed to come watch closed practices while there was a QB competition going on between the true frosh JJ and junior Nick Marshall. Everyone saw then that JJ was better. Even Pat Dye noted it. Gus did not want to throw a true frosh out there with no college experience against the SEC even though it was clear JJ was better. So he went with the more experienced junior who had college experience QBing his team in JUCO. Then 2013 happened and Nick took us to the Championship. By then it was his team and you don't unseat a championship QB and disrupt the team at that point so JJ even though he was better had to sit yet again. There's your answer. Want confirmation of that? Look at the Arkansas game from last year. JJ led the offense to more points than Nick did and also had the higher QBR and passer rating to boot from the same team.

I am used to dumb statements, but "mistake". That is crazy. NM led Auburn to a SEC title and did everything he could do to win a BCS title. Last season behind that O-line JJ would have been eaten alive. NM was the best play in 2013 and 2014 and JJ is the best play in 2015.

Big donors, Pat Dye, etc…that is good stuff. Good stuff I tell ya.
