Auburn had the dominate defensive player in Fairly. Without him they dont win the MNC.

Also shouldn't we wait to see if Manziel can do it for more than just a year as Clowney has done?
That's the best argument against Manziel.
But if you look at Clowney, he put up those great numbers and South Carolina's defense got worse than they were in 2011 (worse ppg and worse total yards).
His impact is a little over-stated just because he's a freak athlete.

It's a team sport. Without the team making plays, no one wins a MNC.
Fairley had a sack in 8 games that season.
(2 or more sacks only twice).
Cam had 3 or more TDs in 10 games that season.

How is this close? JFF all day every day at every level in any sport.

2011 National Championship. Auburn held Oregon to 75 rushing yards. Thanks in large part to Nick Fairly. If you think they win that game without him you're stupid. Cam had 265 Yards passing 2 tds and an INT and rushed for 3.8 YPC which is good. Im just saying they dont hold Oregon to 19 points and 75 rushing yards without Fairly.

you always take a QB, the most valuable player on the team.

You're right clowney should be running away with it..

Clowney will win this poll because nobody cares enough about SC to hate them. Their players become the darlings of this board every year. First Lattimore and now Clowney. JFF's douchiness also brings out a lot of haters on this baord. Either way I'd love to have either one on my team and wish we could let them settle it on the field.

It's a team sport. Every member on the team who made plays contributed to the win.
Cam had 329 yards of offense that game.
Nick had a great game. But don't sell me that 3 tackles for a loss (and 2 other tackles) had a greater individual impact than 1 player accounting for 329 yards of offense and 2 scores.
