This argument is stupid.
If you trade Manziel for Clowney, there is no way in hell TAMU beats Alabama and has the season they did.
If you trade Clowney for Manziel, USCe would be celebrating a National Championship right now.

80% of posters who will say Clowney in this situation are doing so because they're either tired of hearing about Manziel or are trying to stick it to A&M posters here. Fact.

Tough choice, I'd take Maziel because we don't have a decent QB at all.

Yep. It's the truth too. That's why the silly Oregon teams and the Big XII teams keep failing. Those stupid high flying offenses can only do so much.

Was fairley a DT or end? If so, case closed.

I hate to say it. But in the situation you said with starting a new qb.
I would take what I have seen in Manziel over what I don't know with a new qb.
Manziel.

see my previous post and then try and come up with a counter post that is justifiable.

Technically you lose JFF in terms of this thread so Clowney is your choice by default.

They may not have LED the team, but you need a dominant DEFENSIVE player.
Clowney is a DE. You are making this too easy and are frickin retared if you take an elite DE over and elite QB. A&M had a DE (Von Miller) that produced MORE than Clowney and was still average. In comes Manziel and wala.

Indeed. Both are great players, but there are more guys like Manziel than there are like Clowney.

I agree.

Doubt it. I think JFF wouldn't have near as good a supporting cast on offense at USCe as he had at A&M last year. USCe definitely plays for the SEC Title though.

You win in the SEC by running for Touchdowns.
Manziel does that.
Clowney accounts for about 25% of the team sacks.
Manziel accounts for about 80% of the teams offense.
People who are saying that it isn't even close haven't even begun to think this through.

That's not the point. You NEED a dominant defensive player like Clowney to go unbeaten and win a title. You don't NEED a top tier QB to do that.
Even if you NEED a dominant defensive player, it doesn't have to be a DE. A dominant QB generates more wins than any dominant player at any other position. You can have a dominant DT, LB, CB, or S.
Even if you say that Clowney is a 100 as a DE, while JFF is just a 95, JFF is still more valuable due to his position.

You realize SC and A&M had identical records and lost to the same teams correct?

Really? If you asked me I'd rather be sicking Clowney after QBs and having a guy like McElroy run the offense, I'd pick them over having Manziel run the offense and a guy like Luther Davis rushing the other team's QBs. As already said, you don't NEED a dominant QB to win a title. I don't give a frick if he doesn't break records, he just has to win the game. You need a dominant defensive presence somewhere, and it doesn't get any more dominant than Clowney.

But I'd rather have an average QB than an average pass rusher. That is the whole point. An average QB can easily win with the right pieces around him.

Really? Tell what other freshman has won the heisman? Won in Tuscaloosa? Smashed SEC records? Won the Davey O Brien?
I can name plenty of DE's that have outproduced Clowney.

I'd take JFF
Clowney is more shocking to watch, more of a physical freak and will have a better NFL career. I can even believe that he might be better at his position than Manzel, but QB is just more important.
Consider this: think of the number of teams that have won a MNC without a very good QB. Then think of the number of teams who have won a MNC without a very good DE. I guarantee the 2nd group is larger.
