Nice grind.
Oh, and I vote for Clowney.
JFFs are a dime a dozen ... he's not even that much better than Shaw quite honestly.
Clowney is a once in a lifetime player who takes-up two, or even three of the other team's players so he creates an imbalance in favor of his own defense.
It's a no brainer - Clowney is the only logical choice by anyone not snorting bath salts or smoking crack.

Indeed. Both are great players, but there are more guys like Manziel than there are like Clowney.
Uhhhhhh, no

So AJ is just a decent QB?
this isn't about bama...we just have the luxury of having the best QB arguably ever to come through the college game and the best defensive mind ever in the game.

I don't even know what to say.

The JFF brand is worth more money than any player to ever role through SCe. /thread

Really? Tell what other freshman has won the heisman?
None. But it isn't like he beat out top notch competition when his runner up was Manti Te'o. And winning the Heisman doesn't win you a title.

Won in Tuscaloosa
I can't name them all, but a lot more than you think. Doubt many of them won a title.

Smashed SEC records?
No idea, but records don't win titles.

Won the Davey O Brien?
No idea, but individual awards don't win titles.
The point is you could easily take plenty of guys in recent memory, Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy, etc, and they could dominate games, but you need a guy like Clowney on your defense to win. Defense wins titles, not flashy offenses.

I can name plenty of DE's that have outproduced Clowney.
I can play that game too.
Manti Te'o out produced most other ILBs, but I guess he really was the best in CFB last year, huh?

"role"
Texas education

Is this a trick question? Clowney by a mile. Manziel is a one hit wonder. All down hill from last season.

JFF's dime a dozen?
Dumb arse.

We've had a Heisman winner you know? Of course he is 'worth more money' simply due to how much bigger CFB is.

Holy frick you don't actually believe that shite do you?

Manziel is the correct answer here.
Even a truly legendary DE will only make a big impact on defense maybe 20% of the time.
A superstar QB will impact the offense on every play that's not a handoff.

Also shouldn't we wait to see if Manziel can do it for more than just a year as Clowney has done?
Posted on 5/22/13 at 6:53 pm to TigerBait2008
I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic.
Though if AJ goes 14-0 this year he would be one of the most, if not THE most decorated QBs in CFB history.

Manziel and it's not even close.

Resorting to spelling correction.... losing the argument. A gump wants to call out Texas education??
For the record Manti Teo didn't outproduce many LBs last season. He was an ESPN hype machine...

Losing what argument? It's a matter of opinion. You clearly still have the joke opinion of a Big XII fan.
"Herp derp offense."
Anyway, I'd take Clowney. Most people probably would. Glad to see the figs getting all defensive about it.

Really? If you asked me I'd rather be sicking Clowney after QBs and having a guy like McElroy run the offense, I'd pick them over having Manziel run the offense and a guy like Luther Davis rushing the other team's QBs. As already said, you don't NEED a dominant QB to win a title. I don't give a frick if he doesn't break records, he just has to win the game. You need a dominant defensive presence somewhere, and it doesn't get any more dominant than Clowney.
You need a dominant run game. And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, and Johnny Manziel do for their offense.
You don't need a dominant defense. Auburn proved that with their title when Cam Newton put together one of the best seasons in college football history.
