You take the QB. I honestly can't imagine a coach not taking the QB.

I'd take Clowney. You can plug a decent QB into a system that works, but you need a dominant defensive presence.

You can also take a decent defensive end in a system and win.... whats your point?

That's not the point. You NEED a dominant defensive player like Clowney to go unbeaten and win a title. You don't NEED a top tier QB to do that.

One thing not mentioned in this thread is the revenue Manziel has generated for A&M. Hell as of January he had generated $37 million dollars in media revenue for Texas A&M. The guy has almost single handedly turned the program around.

I've mainly heard this from Bama fans over the years, even before their current run...

"Offense wins games. Defense wins Championships" or some such.

Who was the last DE to lead their team to a national championship?

It's funny. Manziel was "the reason" we won anything last year; and if he goes down this year, we're fricked.
But you don't "NEED" a QB to win a title.
I'ze so confused.

This is so ignorant. JFF accounted for 70% of a top 3 offenses total offense....

Clowney is really good, but as far as a difference one player makes....

This argument is stupid.

If you trade Manziel for Clowney, there is no way in hell TAMU beats Alabama and has the season they did.

If you trade Clowney for Manziel, USCe would be celebrating a National Championship right now.

They may not have LED the team, but you need a dominant DEFENSIVE player.

09 McElroy went 14-0, and he's not bad, but he wasn't some world beater, especially that year. We had guys like Ro, Cody, and Javy on D.
