I cheer for SEC teams because, moreso than any other conference, we love the game.

I too, love football. We threw an Iron Bowl party here in Minnesota. Although we all hate Alabama, the game provided us with many moments of cheering and happiness. We went crazy over the Iron Bowl win last year and probably celebrated a little too much. While this year's game could never live up to last year's, it still brought together great friends and a love of Auburn football. For that I am grateful for the game.

Great story. I remember it was late in the 2nd quarter and I was really frustrated with the way things were going. I took a breath and thought "Yeah, but there's tons of Auburn fans watching right now and having a great time." I know way too many Auburn fans to not be a little happy for them when it's going well.

Now, do I feel bad for them when Auburn isn't doing well? Nope!

I've got one friend who is a Bama fan. Of course he had to send us needling texts after the game, but then we give it back as well. If Auburn had won, we were going to drive over to his house and toilet paper his trees.

One of my best friends here in Illinois is an Auburn fan (I know, right?). The day of the final rolling of the trees at Toomer's Corner, he came over around midnight with his daughter and a bunch of her friends and they rolled all my trees and decorated my car.

I got this in a text around 1am and knew it was gonna be bad.

Had to drive to church with that on my car.

I love that! We did TP my neighbor's trees last year after the Iron Bowl in a drunken stupor, but he's an Auburn fan so he loved it. We volunteered to clean it up in a couple days after our hangovers wore off, but he said, "I'm leaving it in the trees all winter."

Thanks for sharing... good read.

Is it just me, or is the au kid in the middle of the 2nd picture displaying his freakishly long thumbs?

Wow man, great read all the way through. Gotta love what Saturday nights do for the family and friends.

Wish I could give more than +1 for that writeup.

I believe I will wait for the movie before reading all that. Either that or book on tape.

J/K nice story. Can I get a used paperback from Amazon?

Thanks for sharing that great story. It's nice to know that through all the bad times, at least you had something solid to hold on to. It's nicer to know that you used your upbringing to become a good dad to your kids. I really hope that you and your brother have grown to have a more loving adult relationship.

My dad loves the game, played all the way through college; but I never got it the way you, he and others do. My love has always been soccer, the other football.

However, going to A&M really got me into it. One does not simply become an Aggie and expect not to go cheer on Saturdays. So, reluctantly I did, for the first time. And now, even though soccer is still the sport I love, I enjoy football enough to regret that I never gave it a chance as a kid. I am grateful that my dad didn't push his love of it on me, but sometimes I kinda wish he had just a little bit. Cause I would have made one hell of a wide receiver.

Just think of all the concussions you avoided.

Very well done brother. None of us have the same story but there were enough similarities to really take me back (had forgotten about the fricking roaches).

Let me be 116th to upvote.

Chills and while I didn't have a rough upbringing like you, it did bond my family in a way nothing else could as well.

I really take the there were never any fights on Saturdays, yet we would fight to and from church. That is so true with the way my family was growing up!

My two year old daughter can already sing along to Rocky Top and I can't wait to take her to her first game in a couple years.

Thanks for the read.
