All yall coonass' seem to forget what made yalls D so good in the past. Yall will soon realize what you've lost. Your offense will still have " potential " but will continue to suck arse. Your D will suffer tremendously without Chavis.

What made our D great in the past was Chavis???

Ha Ha... Was he our defensive coordinator when we won the championship in '03? No.

I seem to remember our defenses be pretty fuggin good when Mushchamp was our coordinator. Oh yeah, we were pretty fuggin good when Bo Pelini was our coordinator too. These guys made their names and parlee'd themselves into head coaches based off of what their defenses did at LSU. Chavis is just one in a long line.

You want to know what made their careers?

Tyrann Matthie, Marcus Spears, Mo Claiborne, Patrick Peterson, Eric Reid, Kelvin Sheppard, Chad Lavalais, Kevin Mintner, Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery, Michael Brockers, Kyle Williams, etc.

I guess if Bama lost their defensive coordinator, their defense would go down the shitter. I don't think so, Iona.

This is not what I said. I was simply offering oppositional discourse to the strange claim that LSU will be world-beaters.

So explain to me how Alabama is supposed to be so much better and why they deserve to be ranked as high as they are in these polls?

Alabama's defense will be fantastic, I'm sure. Their QB is obviously a gigantic question mark. That's why you only see Alabama fans with unshakable confidence in Alabama. Most of the talking heads have been spreading the preseason love around.

Against the run maybe.

Pass happy teams and, as usual, up tempo offenses should throw Saban into his fits of rage.

Their back end of their defense wasn't very good last year, why should I believe they'll be any better this year after n losing Collins?

Auburn had the same record as LSU. Auburn lost their 2 year starting quarterback, their top 2 rushers and leading wide receiver.

But Auburn will be better because "Malzahn! and Muschamp! and that one half against Arkansas"

I'd hold off on bashing anyones optimism.

We actually are getting our best rusher back. He missed all of last season.

leading wide receiver.

Because our best WR missed games due to injury.

Replacing him with a Heisman contender.

ETA Just realized you were talking about RB instead of pass rusher. If you think Auburn is not loaded at RB, pay close attention.

Yeah, actually. Their corners are frightening. You got Tony Brown and Marlon Humphrey who are both world class athletes and no longer true freshmen, plus a bunch of other 5*s

Just because you return a so-so to bad QB, or a relatively inexperience Harrisiah, not sure where you're seeing the advantage there.

where have you been the last 50 years? last year, LSU had to replace virtually all of it's skill position players, including QB. and you aver that we have no "apparent improvement" this year?

as far as a "downgrade" at DC that's arguable.

you certainly make assumptions about LSU w/o knowing shite about LSU. go crawl back under your fricking rock.

I've never seen them play in a live college football game. Have you? So based of what 247 told you, the defensive backfield is supposed to be better with no experience and lots of 5*'s?

I'm not denying that we liked him and defended him when he was our coach. I think that is only natural.

My only point that LSU had great defenses before Chavis and will have great defenses after Chavis.

If you don't think our defense will be in the top 5 of the conference, you are a fool.

Right. Johnson is a much better all around QB than Marshall was. Marshall was a wildcard.

We are reloading at RB. Our system gives us that benefit. Also have a stable of great RBs. Duke Williams, our best, is still here along with our most reliable WRs from last year.
