the only reason Old Miss will have any kind of defensive numbers is because of their cupcake fricking schedule. They will finish last in the SEC West. book it.

Wrong. Just flat wrong.

We will finish in the top 3.

But thanks for playing

I altered to "at times" - but you have to agree it was not a typical LSU defense...

Louisianna Tech - time of possession 36:20 / 322 yards with 178 on the ground?

Washington - time of possession 36:52 / 478 total yards with 328 thru air & 157 on ground?

Mississippi - time of possession 33:36 / 426 total yards with 193 on the ground?

LSU was #3 in the conference in scoring defense in 2009. Even with one of their worst DL's in years.

Ole miss lost too much talent on that defensive line I think for them to have a top 3 D finish in the SEC.

Our front 7 (the Landsharks) will be very good again.

The 'Landsharks' pissed me off against auburn and alabama and state this year. They should be ripped of that moniker.

Wrong. Our top 3 players from our front 4 are back and lost 1 linebacker. Our front seven will be better just not as deep. The question is our secondary. Lots of talent just not a lot of experience on the corners.

I wouldnt be surprised if OM has a top 3 defense. The talent is there and HDN will probably be running clock eating offense.

Tig, Jackson and Brown will be fine at Safety.

I expect Charles Sawyer and McGee to be the starters at Safety.

What do you think we do with Tim Simon?

I dont know. Its sad. So much talent and potential. It depends on how he recovers. If he is just as quick and explosive I say we keep him at RB. Im not sure how medical red shirts work, but maybe he would qualify for one. But if he's lost a step he might need to move back to LB.

Yea I think we are stacked at Safety for years to come. We will be very deep at corner in the coming years. I just wish we would've gotten McKenzie. He probably would've started and given us some needed dept at CB

Yes, my fault. I was just trying to ball park.

Simon is back for preseason drills. I was referring to getting an extra year of eligibility

Opposing fans who say we lost too much on the d-line obviously don't know shite about our team. We lost:

Tillman, great college player with a good head on his shoulders.

Greg - don't get me started.

E Stephens - solid contributor by the end of his career.

Coming back for the D-line - Powe, Laurent, Lockett, Scott, Justin Smith (hopefully at full speed), Dorsey, Jason Jones, Gerald Rivers. I mean the list goes on and on. Our d-line is sick as shite and other teams just choose to conveniently overlook it. That's fine.

Oh and I forgot to include our incoming freshman d-linemen.....they're kinda good too

The 9 starters lost sounds worse than it is, our front seven will be nasty.

Dareus, our best D lineman last year, wasn't even listed as a starter but I think most people understand that he's not exactly a question mark as a new starter.

Chapman, again, he's played A LOT the last two years and when Cody was hurt in 2008 he stepped in and handled things just fine. Kerry Murphy is maybe more talented and is right behind him.

Luther Davis, talented senior, just never had a chance to be a starter yet. We have Damion Square behind him (may actually end up the starter) and Dareus and a boatload of talented RS freshmen.

Our starting 4 linebackers should be Hightower, Nico Johnson, Courtney Upshaw and Jerrell Harris. The only one of those 4 that hasn't gotten a lot of run is Harris.

Our safeties, if Green comes back, will be a strong point. Its just the corners and the secondary as a whole that's the question but there's a ton of talent there. I would rather not play Arkansas as early in the season as we do with our inexperience there, could be the end of that unbeaten regular season streak but I would be surprised if we aren't thought of as a top two defense next year.

Oh there is no doubt in my mind that Bama's defense in 2010 will prove to be another one of Saban's mutant blood-drinkers. However, we all know the chain reaction that can occur in the SEC when there is some inexperience in the secondary. But there is solid depth there and as well as they are coached, it won't take them long.

Damnit.
