Its certainly not Bama. This time period includes the Fran & Shula eras which were absolutely horrible. Maybe if we did the last 5 years Bama would be in the mix

Auburn ran the table twice, which is something none of the other programs could accomplish. LSU fans dont want to give USC credit for the '04 season, and they dont want to give AU credit for that season either. As a Bama fan I hate Auburn, but I can at least give them credit where credit is due

LSU may have 2 titles, but they backed into 1 of those with 2 losses, and split the other with USC. Auburn may not have gotten the hardware, but 2 undefeated seasons is a pretty amazing accomplishment

You started at thread under the guise of a question only to later unveil that your only quest was to belittle LSU's accomplishments this past decade.

+1

That said, any of these teams could probably make a legitimate claim:

LSU
Florida
USC
OU
Ohio State

-not sure you can include Boise (because of schedule) and UT (for winning less conference titles than LSU and Florida in a weaker league).

USC is tarnished by the Reggie Bush scandal, and that's arguably enough to remove them entirely from the discussion. It's a really subjective discussion though and depends upon one's own parameters and definition of "dominant."

When I think dominant, I think of consistency. Auburn has been to up and down to be in this discussion.

You have both LSU and FL winning the 01 SEC championship, fairly certain FL didnt win the east that year, as the SECCG was LSU vs UT.
is that 2000-present? doesn't look like it

UF followed by LSU. Only two teams to have 2 BCS titles in that span. Auburn had a pretty solid run before Tuberville stopped recruiting. USC, OU, and tOSU were pretty consistent, but lost to their SEC counterparts when it mattered (except USC, but they never played the SEC in National Championships and have vacated their title).

Nothing says dominant like a 2 loss national champ.

USC - 100-26, 2003 and 2004 national champions, three Heisman Trophy winners (Palmer, Leinart, Bush), seven Pac 10 championships (02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08)

Clear winner here.

USC dominated college football in almost every aspect from 2002-2008. The 2004 USC team would've beaten any team in the country like a red-headed step-child.

These are just the USC first round picks from 2003-2009 (2004-2010 drafts):

#1 - Carson Palmer, #1 overall in 2003
#2 - Troy Polamalu, #16 overall in 2003
#3 - Kenechi Udeze, #20 overall in 2004
#4 - Mike Williams, #10 overall in 2005
#5 - Mike Patterson, #31 overall in 2005
#6 - Reggie Bush, #2 overall in 2006
#7 - Matt Leinart, #10 overall in 2006
#8 - Sedrick Ellis, #7 overall in 2008
#9 - Keith Rivers, #9 overall in 2008
#10 - Sam Baker, #21 overall in 2008
#11 - Lawrence Jackson, #28 overall in 2008
#12 - Mark Sanchez, #5 overall in 2009
#13 - Brian Cushing, #15 overall in 2009
#14 - Clay Matthews, #26 overall in 2009

What would you rather have?

An undefeated season or a bcs championship?

Pretty sure NO title in 04 or Heisman for Bush. They cheated, got caught, and were penalized. Remove those wins from their record as well.

Still won it on the field buddy.

Speaking of dominance, how about those teams that finished behind LSU that year (which by the way include every team discussed in this thread)...what does that say about them and their dominance?

2. what does Heisman winners have to do with dominant CFB programs?

Don't play stupid.

Having three Heisman winners in your entire history is great. Having three Heisman winners in four years is monumental.

Weren't tOSU and Mich supposed to be unbeatable in 2006?

Next time bring facts.

not really...since they actually have 0 national championships.

or is dominance based on 1st round picks?

As a fan, I'd rather have a bcs championship. However for the sake of this thread, which is more "dominant"...winning a title even though you had two losses or going undefeated?

yea its pretty clear to anyone with a brain these are the top two.

usc won 0 titles and had a losing season,
tosu won a title but were pistol whipped by LSU and uf

ou won a title but also ended up pistol whipped by LSU and uf

LSU and uf combined four for four in title games neither of them had a losing season like usc

8 wins was the lowest total for a season for them.

no shite...but it has nothing to do with the dominance of a CFB program. Wins and championships determine that.
