Based on what? I'm not talking crap, I'm legit asking. Sam won SEC d POTY last year and Ealy was a beast as well and went pretty high in the draft. Just seems like it wouldn't be as simple as "oh yeah, their backups are going to be even better".

Golden was our most productive DL on a per snap basis last season. Ray wasn't far behind. You can't really say definitively if they will be better than Ealy and Sam, but they were both excellent last season.

Markus Golden and Shane Ray may very well be better than Sam/Ealy this year.

Ealy - 42 tackles, 14 TFL, 8 sacks, 6 passes knocked down, 1 INT, 3 FF, 7 QBH
Sam - 48 tackles, 19.5 TFL, 11.5 sacks, 2 passes knocked down, 2 FF, 5 QBH

I guarantee that Golden and Ray don't match those numbers. No fricking way. Golden is really good, and Ray is good too, and they put up big numbers too last year too, but they won't be better than that right there... They benefitted from having Ealy and Sam on the team. They won't have that same benefit anymore.

Just so people know how good the back ups were:

Golden - 55 tackles, 13 TFL, 6.5 sacks, 1 INT, 1 FF, 4 QBH
Ray - 39 tackles, 9 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 1 FR, 2 FF, 8 QB hurries

Edit - sorry, just saw that someone posted this.

Ahhhh! I was unaware of your JUCOs. They will help!

Yeah. We did too, last year. JHC and Tray Matthews. I am sure you know how that turned out for us. Freshmen can't seem to grasp the concept of knocking the ball down!

Glad you said this. I was trying to figure out how without calling it an obsession...

Possibly...but don't you get tired of seeing:

Bamasessed, Auburnsessed, Aggiesessed, Dawgsessed, etc?

Agreed. I was looking for an alternate word though. Perhaps he has a Mizzou fetish?

Eta - oh, and Golden and Ray are gonna tear some people up.

Well...sometimes no other word adequately expresses the feeling, right?

I don't think our d line is really going to be as big of a question mark as ppl think. However, that's the popular theory right now.

The only absolutes were the absolutes by the Mizzou poster who claimed Mizzou would have the best QB and DEs in the league, or was it just the East? Either way, doesn't matter.

And you Mizzourites need to get over the obsession thing. That's your go-to excuse just like the liberals use race and bigotry ... shyte that truly reeks IMHO. Learn to debate without using the word obsession for a change and the world might lighten-up for you Alice.

Golden and Ray may be better than Sam and Ealy, who knows. The reality of the matter is that there are three other programs in the East alone, who may have better DEs combos than Golden and Ray ... and if you call that an absolute or obsession, then you know not what defines either of the words.

Also, look-up what "IMHO" means ... I'm entitled to one, just like you. And my opinion is that I'd put SCAR's returning DEs against anyone's in the East as it stands right now.

44 Gerald Dixon | 6-2, 267, RS SO
34 Mason Harris | 6-3, 231, RS JR

55 David Johnson | 6-1, 280, RS FR
51 Devin Washington | 6-3, 226, RS FR

5 Darius English | 6-6, 235, RS SO
18 Cedrick Cooper | 6-2, 226, RS JR
33 Gerald Turner | 6-2, 251, RS FR

Kentucky's DEs are going to be very good, so are Florida's and Georgia's.

So no, I absolutely do not believe Mizzou is going to have the best DEs this year, either in the division or the league.

Grow up.

It might be, but when you lose Quarles, Clowney and Sutton....well....most would think that would be hard to replace. maybe just wishful thinking on our part?
