We ain't gettin NOBODY because Sherm is going NOWHERE. We just signed him to a huge extension. We can't pay his arse and hire ANYONE short of a retread coming out of retirement to take less than $750,000 a year.

Sherm is going nowhere.

Why is A&M looking for a coach?

because Sherman underachieves there. He is mediocre and his record at AM reflects that. Many thought they were only going to lose a game or 2 tops.

no he isn't.

and no not really. They should be alot better than they are.

yeah nobody is knocking down Shermans door to get him to interview for their job opening, and most likely nobody ever will

If it weren't for A&M he'd be jumping team to team in the NFL as a crappy OC or QB coach

Sherm may suck donkey balls but as long as he gets more wins than losses, he stays AT LEAST 3 more years.

Couldn't disagree more. I could go through every guy he has recruited from Texas but that might take awhile.

A&M puts up the cash and they can get a solid hire. I really think A&M will be a player in the SEC and not an UM, MSU, UK, Vandy, or USC type program.

I'm sure Fulmer has already put his name in the running.

did you not read this A&M guys comment?

with a program with that type of attitude, they'll be lucky to get to the level of Ole Miss or Miss State

I mean its statements like that that make SEC fans realize A&M does NOT have what it takes to succeed in this conference.

If that is your standard, you never had a chance to begin with. You dont build a 6-6 program and then "luck out" into a 9 win season in the SEC. In fact, if you've got a 6-6 program, it will only 1-2 years before you sink to 3-9 territory. And during those 4 years of mediocrity to patheticness... you will have set A&M back an entire decade in terms of being able to compete

While so sad, this is so true.

This is why A&M fans are notorious for being "delusional." It's because we know we should be better than we are, but right now, the power players are stuck in this good ol' boy paradigm where they just scratch each other's backs while the program in general suffers.

One day, you've got to think ONE DAY!

To the aggie who asked if Smart is the defensive equivalent of Malzahn....absolutely not.

Watch what happens to Auburn when Malzahn leaves and Chizik and Roof (if he is still there) are all they have.

Then watch what happens to Alabama when Smart leaves...nothing. That is because Smart is nothing more than the dingleberry hanging off Saban's nutsack.

I have an intriguing thought: would Bobby Petrino leave Arkansas for A&M? It would be much easier to recruit and win at A&M...and Petrino is all about himself. If A&M offered...would he take it? IDK...but interesting.

Like adam said...this is going to be a down year in the coaching carousel. Ohio State, Ole Miss, UCLA are about the only big schools that will fire their coaches. A&M should...you guys will lose several more games this year.

No compete clauses preclude this, even if TAMU magically crapped the $20 million to even start that kind of a discussion tomorrow.

Sexton is on the horn with College Station. Apparently, Nutt is holding Ole Miss hostage again, but A&M doesn't know he sucks! Aggies wants Nutt for 9 million a year!

Ok, sorry, April fools, or something, Ole Miss!

technically

A&M doesn't join the SEC until next July... so if A&M went after Petrino after this football season he wouldn't be violating his "no SEC West team" clause

I dont think Petrino would actually go to a program like A&M, but just for arguments sake if they wanted to go after him after this year they could b/c they are technically in the Big XII until July 2012

It still wouldn't push the buyout amount down, and there would be a mother of a lawsuit regarding non-competition.

The cost of doing it, even if he were interested, would be immensely prohibitive.

just pointing out it IS possible, at least for a few more months. But I agree, not a chance in hell
