If you got $4,000,000 I'd go get Mike Gundy if T.Boone didn't match it...Gundy would do well in the SEC IMO..
I think Gundy's great. But I don't see him EVER leaving OSU, regardless of the offer. He played there, and I think he's been on the staff since ever since? I could be wrong, but it doesn't matter, that guys is an Oklahoma St. Cowboy until the end.

Toss 3M at Malzahn, with Texas deep recruiting, Texas finesse-type/Big-12 raised/spread O/shotgun formation influenced high schoolers, and A&M's deep pockets, is the super smart play, in making a big splash into the SEC.
Thus, will not happen, because A&M always hires grinder-style HCs..they'll f it up.

Question: Is it a true statement to say that Smart is to defense what Malzahn is to offense?
I know that Saban is a defensive guy and so I don't know how much of bama's defensive success should be attributed to Smart. On the flip side, Chizik is a defensive guy so we know that Malzahn is the brains behind the offense.

Defense wins championships, and is usually the way to excel in the SEC(and why Bama will edge out LSU on Nov 5th). But, offensive elite minds appear more rare than defensive ones.
Smart has surely(at LSU, Mia, Bama) sponged much from Saban, but the Gus Bus continues to shine, even this year, with major losses from 2010's team.
I'd go Gus, then let him get a 800K to 1M ATM Monopoly money'ed DC.

Let's say for argument's sake that a big money Ag came to the table and made it possible for A&M to throw $4 mil per year out.
Does that change who would become a realistic coaching hire?
Could the move to the SEC, A&M's new player development center (breaking ground in Jan.), decent talent on the roster, good 2012 class, pull in a BIG name?
NO

I guess you could throw Chizik and Kelley in as BIG name guys...But Chizik is not obtainable and I don't think Kelley would be a good hire for a SEC school.
Chizik is NOT a big name
He isn't even as big a name as his own Offensive Coordinator

This guy's probably dying to get back into coaching:

"Tommy Tuberville"
Prob not a bad choice, in all seriousness.

HOnestly, I think you're better off with Chad Morris than Malzahn. Gus has never recruited TX that I know of. Has limited exposure there.
Morris at least has a long history of coaching within TX. I don't think you can overestimate how important that is for a new staff.

Tubbs was a good coach for a while, but he got lazy in recruiting and just about everything else the last few years at Auburn. I dont think he wants it enough anymore to really turn around an SEC program anymore... he seemed to lose his drive
He might take the job if offered, I just don think he'd deliver the desired results

yeah he'd take it, especially if they gave him like 3 mil a year or something like that
he just wouldn't work near hard enough to turn that program around and have them competing in the SEC
I think A&M would be better off with an up and comer than with an old has been (like they have right now... actually Sherman isn't a has been he's a "never quite was")
